Overview
Los Angeles is the second-largest city in the United States, with a diverse population
representing approximately 140 countries and more than 65 different languages.
It boasts great weather with low humidity and little rain. In July temperatures in
Southern California range from the low 60s to mid-80s.
Lights, camera, action! Los Angeles, the entertainment capital of the world, provides
a vast array of activities and attractions. Relax on the beach—Loyola Marymount
University is a short car ride from the Pacific Ocean—or explore funky and eclectic
shops and street artists of Venice Beach. Take advantage of myriad tourist attractions
including Disneyland, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, the Hollywood Sign, and the
Walk of Fame, or watch a Dodger’s game or a live television show taping.

Where to Go
Visit Lincoln Boulevard, a short 5–10 minute walk from University Hall,
for a variety of restaurants and shops. After class, head to the nearby coastal
neighborhood of Marina del Rey for ocean-view dining or people-watch at
Santa Monica’s trendy Third Street Promenade.
University Life
Loyola Marymount University, founded in 1911, is located on
the Westchester Bluffs between the Pacific Ocean and downtown
Los Angeles. The 150-acre main campus is beautifully situated
overlooking Marina del Rey. Classes, breaks, and exhibits are held
in University Hall, located near the main entrance of the campus.
