The North West 2020 Annual Survey Sanderson Weatherall

Owned and run by a group of commercial property experts, Sanderson Weatherall is a long established property consultancy that’s a popular alternative to the industry’s larger international firms.

With a history in property dating back to 1833, we’ve adapted and evolved to be one of the leading SMEs in the industry.

David Murray, Partner at Sanderson Weatherall talks about how the market has affected the business over the past year, and it’s recent increase in national contract wins.

“Sanderson Weatherall had another strong performance last year. A number of national contract wins demonstrated how effectively and successfully the firm’s nine regional offices can collaborate to deliver on a nationwide scale. In particular, the firm saw an increase in the number of national property disposal contracts it is instructed on."

Throughout 2019, many businesses were reluctant to progress their property plans, mainly due the uncertainty of the general election and the broader impact that leaving the EU might have on businesses.

The start of 2020 has been much healthier with the Boris Bounce hitting the economy, and election and Brexit decisions confirmed. Sanderson Weatherall has seen an increase in both new instructions to the market and enquiry levels.

How long this is likely to last for is difficult to tell as it has now been 12 years from the 2008 global economic crises and there is a strong likelihood that as we head towards the end of this year or early next the market will once again start to slow.

At Sanderson Weatherall we are in the process of successfully completing the disposal programme for Swinton insurance and have disposed of over 140 units.

Our latest instruction is from Assura PLC, a FTSE 250-listed real estate investment trust develops which invests in and manages healthcare buildings for the NHS.

Our appointment with Assura is as principal leasing agents of their vacant space across their national portfolio. The accommodation ranges from small units in existing medical centres to larger spaces in hospitals, and totals approximately 110,000 sq ft across 22 nationwide units.

We have already started marketing the properties and we are taking enquiries for a variety of different uses. However, we consider the space would be suitable for healthcare, retail or office, although we will not dismiss alternative uses. These properties really do provide fantastic opportunities for an occupier to take space within some bespoke, high-quality healthcare properties.”
