Bolton Council is developing a major regeneration masterplan, to redevelop the town centre up to and beyond 2030. It has committed £100million and attracted an estimated £1.5billion of private investment into the town centre to date. The town centre transformation is under way in five intervention areas with the knock-on effects kickstarting other investments across the town centre and starting in new areas. The Bolton Blueprint is resulting in regeneration at a pace and at scale.





Trinity Gateway - Beechlane (Investments) Limited have proposed a development that will comprise of a 20 storey residential tower of 144 apartments, 30,000 sq.ft. of grade A office space and a 505 space multi storey car park which will serve the development and the town centre in general.





Le Mans Hotel - Beechlane have proposed to redevelop all that part of the crescent that is not occupied by the library and museums service to an 87 bedroomed four-star hotel with 17 serviced apartments and a health and wellness spa.





Victoria Square/Crompton Place – Bolton Regeneration Limited have proposed to re-invent the existing shopping centre and create a new regional destination attraction comprising retail, food and beverage, residential accommodation, a hotel, grade A office space, basement parking and significant improvements to public realm. This will include the re-instatement of a direct access from Victoria Square to Bradshawgate.


‹ Church Wharf - Muse Developments Limited have proposed a riverside development comprising a mix of 352 homes, an 80 bedroomed hotel and 130,000 sq. ft. of offices and leisure.





Croal Valley – re-naturalising the River Croal with an improved environment to make the town centre – proposals include building house and flats which would overlook the improved river frontage.


Wider Regeneration


The approved plan for Farnworth focuses on the redevelopment of the Farnworth market precinct and former Saddle pub site for a mixed- use development including residential, commercial and community facilities. Emerging proposals for Horwich, Westhoughton and Little

Lever focus on the redevelopment of a number of sites for a mix of uses also. The creation of masterplans and strategies for the four District Centres is key to enhance the economic prospects for each area by providing a clear strategy for growth, helping to future proof the towns by building on their existing qualities and assets and promoting new activities, so that their full potential as thriving towns can be realised

Investor interest has never been higher and relationships with the private sector are stronger than ever. Our strengths lie in or collaborative efforts to deliver a Bolton reshaped for the 21st century. The masterplan shows how forward thinking and ambitious the council is. The delivery of these projects will build upon recent success in and around the town – such as Logistic North, the largest logistics and distribution site in the North West, the town’s £50m Transport Interchange, a multi-million development of Octagon Theatre. The Council has also committed £16m to help revitalise its district town centre, a masterplan is in place for Farnworth with the further masterplans underway for Horwich, Westhoughton and Little Lever. With the invaluable support of our partners we are committed to a decade of delivery to create a place for people to live, work, study, invest and visit.
