Cityheart to invest £130m into delivering transformational change in Northampton as they partner with West Northamptonshire Council
National developer, Cityheart along with WNC will bring forward the £130m Four Waterside and Marefair sites, delivering a grade A office space, high-quality homes and a new hotel at the significant redevelopment site, located on the edge of the town centre.
Northampton is undergoing extensive regeneration which will breathe new life in the town. As the largest town in the country, it is set to deliver ambitious change in the next decade, putting Northampton firmly on the map for visitors, businesses and investors.
The Council is adopting a forward-thinking approach to regeneration, delivering multi-million pound projects which harness the town’s innovation, heritage and entrepreunship.
Situated at the entrance of the town close to Northampton’s railway station, Four Waterside and Marefair are the two sites totaling five acres. Work is anticipated to start in 2025, and will elevate this area providing highly sought after facilities to house the town’s local businesses, provide new homes and support visitor economy with a new hotel. Cityheart is a leading placemaking developer, partnering with councils nationwide to rejuvenate towns and cities. The partnership with West Northamptonshire Council is Cityheart’s first appointment via the Pagabo National Framework Agreement for Developer-led schemes (Region: East Midlands Lot 3c [£40m+] = Mixed Use).
Andrew Sanderson, development director of Cityheart and lead director for the midlands and south said:
“At the heart of our business is the desire to create sustainable places which really make a difference and this superb scheme will absolutely do that for Northampton.
“We saw clearly the Council’s ambition to redevelop this area of the town and the fantastic and unique opportunity it provides to connect the historic town centre with surrounding communities and Enterprise Zone.”
Cllr Daniel Lister, cabinet member for economic development, town centre regeneration and growth at WNC said:
“We are delighted to be working with Cityheart to deliver this significant development. Their expertise will be invaluable in transforming these two vacant sites and providing high-quality facilities. This area has stood empty for too long, and we are excited to now begin the relevant preparation before we start work in 2025.”
