I had a direct line to the onboarding engineer at pixitmedia and we work closely together to optimise the system. We’re using ngenea to map from our local storage. It’s known for the cloud but it works just as well for local storage. As it’s a thin layer of high- performance storage, we can utilise it on a very flexible basis. ngenea drives rushes selects up and down when we need them.
AM Post sales we’ve had training for our team; from engineer to technical operators and creatives, the system makes sense. I was struck by their enthusiasm to show us what it could do and more importantly once it was in situ, they optimised it to get that performance.
MS What you’re paying for is a high-end Linux-driven file system and the expertise behind it. That kind of performance was unheard of even three or four years ago.

AM Our creatives can spend more time focussing on being creative. And our team can go home at a reasonable time not waiting for a copy to copy. The wellbeing of our team was an important element within our mix. We became

and the technology used within pixstor – the NVMe drives in particular – had lower power consumption than similarly sized spinning disc storage. We could reduce the cooling in our racks and our carbon footprint. Not only is it good for the planet but we now have lower energy costs.
MS We have capacity for more finishing suites with the additional bandwidth and network connectivity. Longer term, the cloud is going to be increasingly significant; using pixstor and ngenea is the backbone of how we’ll integrate those resources into the company.
