THE VIRTUAL WORLD The demand for virtual facilities is working its way up the list, especially for sports production. This year has seen IMG Studios bring its Premier League virtual studio online, supporting 40 hours of coverage each week. Rights holders across different sports are looking to change up their content as well as needing studios to support remote production. “We’re seeing increased demand for green screen environment studios,” says Cherry Portbury, Head of Studios at IMG. At BBC Studioworks, with its heartland of

October ‘22 Maidstone Studios is to build a third studio offering a VP workflow, as it reaches its 40th birthday. The new studio is to open this Summer. Additionally plans to add new Studer sound desks to its galleries, a new sound and Foley suite, bigger cinema and remote gallery solutions.


June ‘23 Distortion Studios in Bristol is launching a dedicated 2,000 sq foot VR facility later this year, backed by Creative UK.
