2020 has marked a significant milestone in the history of Trouw Nutrition GB in Ashbourne. From humble beginnings as a grain trader supplying local Derbyshire farmers, the business is continuously evolving as a global player, helping to define and develop nutritional solutions. Recent investment at the Ashbourne site will ensure that they are in good shape to meet the challenges of sustainable livestock production in the 21st century.

company, then known as Frank Wright Ltd. Over the years the company branched out from grain trading to haulage contracting, farm sales and into feed supplement supply and beyond. Great grandson of Frank Wright, Tony Wright, joined the business
in 1964 and oversaw a significant period of expansion, including the re- location of the company to the current larger and more practical site on the airfield industrial estate on the outskirts of town. The new facilities, combined with a move to supplementing feed firms and compounders rather than selling direct to farm, underpinned considerable growth in the 1970s and 1980s. Acknowledging the evolution in livestock farming systems and the
influence of superior genetics and advanced husbandry practices on farm animal performance, the company took a lead in product development, bringing new scientific advances to farm situations. This resulted in an expansion and diversification of the product ranges across all species. The business remained in family ownership for nearly 130 years
