SUPERYACHTS Well despite the fact we’ve been through a pandemic, there’s a war in Ukraine, a cost of living crisis, it seems the superyacht industry continues to flourish! With over 70 superyachts launching this year (and four of those being over 100m), it’ll be interesting to see how they all find enough crew.
SALARIES Over the winter months, stateside and the Caribbean have finally shot up in order to attract good crew to their yachts and to stay! Will the Med yachts wake up and smell the coffee and do the same? With salaries having sat at roughly the same rate for well over 10 years now, will this force the move upwards?

NAUTICAL HEROES ROBBY NAISH
American water sports legend and 24 time world champion Robby Naish, who pioneered windsurfing, kiteboarding, stand up paddleboarding and foil boarding on his way to global stardom. Naish won his first windsurfing world title aged just 13 and picked up 23 more over the years before winning global trophies in kite- boarding as well as pioneering the watersports of SUP and foil boarding.

NAUTILUS the union for superyacht crew, managed to break its own records last year by recovering over 3 million euros in unpaid wages for crew members last year! That’s more than their figures for 2020 and 21 combined. Membership is imperative, let’s hope if you have it you won’t need to call on their services but if you do, they will be there for you.

FARM 2 So, Jeremy Clarkson’s Clarkson’s Farm 2 was a major hit on streaming service Amazon Prime. Despite the fact he appears to have been cancelled due to his awful remarks about Megan Markle, it seems he’s actually become a bit of a sweetheart for the UK’s struggling farming industry. Demonstrated by the fact he and his agricultural advisor Kaleb Cooper received awards at the British Farming Awards for bringing the plight of farmers to the mainstream. So, will there be a Season 3 on Amazon, even though they’ve said they’re not renewing his projects?

WEATHER It’s been a long, long, cold, icy, freezing winter for so many of us after that long, long, hot, sticky summer of 2022, will we see the same this summer? Oh god let’s hope not. However, the start of the year has already seen periods of record breaking highs across Europe, and scientists have apparently said we’re in for more heatwaves. Yay…
