SOCIALLY DISTANT OR DISTANTLY SOCIAL?

Goodbye worst year ever, let’s celebrate 2021 by getting on a superyacht and rethinking the rules!

and jet off to an exotic destination? Seems like a distant memory? Not if you’re on a superyacht. You’re able to self-isolate, quarantine and visit exotic destinations all in one hit. Who needs to fly when you can sail!

is a Quarantini the latest cocktail you’ve just invented on a superyacht in the Med. Is essential exercise walking your dog or zooming on your jet ski? Tough choice!

INSIDE GATHERINGS Rule of six? Banned gatherings indoors? No need to worry about

THE MASK-INI Tired of wearing a face mask every time you leave home? Be mask-ini

ready as you match your face mask to your bikini when you leave your superyacht to go ashore, the only worry you have will be the tan lines!

TAKE MORE VITAMIN D Have you been popping Vitamin D like there’s no tomorrow in order to

beat the dreaded virus? Well, there’s an answer for that, get on a superyacht this summer and top up your Vitamin D levels naturally... you know, from the sun. So much better than a pill!

TRAVEL MORE, NOT LESS Remember when you could get on a plane, share a bottle of champagne

MY FAVOURITE DESTINATION GALÁPAGOS ISLANDS, ECUADOR

Luke Porter Commercial Manager of Shipyard Supply Co.

I first visited the Galápagos Islands while on a guest trip during my yachting days and was stunned by how magnificently weird and wonderfully biodiverse the wildlife is. It’s like visiting the land that time forgot. From the giant tortoises to the prehistoric-looking iguanas that roam on the secluded islands. The archipelago’s bright blue Pacific is the ultimate spot for diving as both its cold and warm water currents mean there’s an

incredible display of sharks, reef fish and sea lions waiting to be discovered down below while hammerhead sharks circle above. This place truly does exceed all expectations and is a destination that should be at the top of every adventurer traveller’s bucket list. I only hope that the authorities do their best to protect this incredible area and preserve its natural beauty and wildlife. I’d hate to see it end up like the Great Barrier Reef.

APP CHAT

If you’re off skiing this season, download a couple of apps to keep you in touch with your buddies

Ski Tracks This app is for both iOS and Android, and includes a host of stat-taking

functions. Keep track of speed, total daily distance, separate run data and even slope angle! All of these metrics can then be logged, divided into different runs and plotted out on a map.

Liftopia For iOS only, this app finds thousands of discounted lift

tickets and other deals, local or worldwide, and lays them out before your eager eyes. You can set up alerts for deals at your favourite locations, places you’d like to try, and places you haven’t been.

SkiLynx SkiLynx is for iOS and is another great way to keep in touch with the

group you’re skiing with. You can use the app to find your friends using GPS and trail maps. It includes a display of the difficulty of the areas they are skiing at that point in time.
