GETTING TO KNOW OUR STAFF... NIC LAWRENCE
How long have you worked for Holstein UK and what positions have you held within the company? I’ve been with Holstein UK for three years and eight months doing everything website related, from web design to managing the web team.
What’s your job title and what does your role involve? Web development co-ordinator. The job involves specification of large scale web projects and managing their delivery.
What’s the most challenging part of your role? Making the more technical side of a project accessible to everyone involved and finding solutions to everyone’s ideas and requests
What’s the most exciting part of your role?
Getting to turn some really exciting ideas into real world products. It’s so much fun to go from “Wouldn’t it be great if…” to seeing it on your own computer.
What is the most memorable part of your time with Holstein UK? Well, this one is still recent, but it has to be the time I was on my way to meet our trustees for a quick presentation and I ended up being towed to safety by the police after my car broke down on the motorway... I think that one will stay with me for a while.
What’s been your biggest achievement during your current role?
Bringing together so many different parts of all the companies to collaborate on the websites. It's been great to be able to pull everyone together like that, I'm proud of what has been achieved.
How well do you get on with your boss?
I report to Michael Hirani Smith and we get on brilliantly, there’s nothing better than having a fellow geek as your boss.
Nic Lawrence Web Development Consultant
How do you relax?
I love to go for a run along the canal whenever I get a chance, either that, or out exploring with the dog.
Favourite meal? Seafood risotto … every time…
Favourite song? Let’s Stay Together by Al Green, I think I was born in the wrong decade.
If you had to climb Everest or swim the channel which would you do? Definitely climb Everest, think of the photo opportunity.
Who is your favourite celebrity? I like the quirky ones like Elon Musk or Neil Degrasse Tyson.
What would you do with £1m? I'd love to help my brothers get onto the property ladder.
