How to improve efficiency and quality

Jas Purba, managing director of ETC Supplies, outlines how you can improve efficiency and quality when embroidering childrenswear and schoolwear by using the correct fixtures and station boards.

W

ith the end of COVID-19 in sight, all schools should be returning back to normal as of this summer.

Last year many schoolwear suppliers lost most of their business, due to school closures. Parents who generally buy large purchase items like blazers every two years, will be coming on for these orders this year, this coupled with the regular schoolwear requirements will mean that many suppliers will be inundated with orders and will find it difficult to cope with the volumes of business this year (I hope).

At the best of times, the schoolwear season is very demanding, but this year should see record sales.

So how can you make your business more efficient? Well one main area, is the framing up of the garment to be embroidered. We all know how good Mighty Hoops are, but have you ever considered how more productive you could be if you used the correct fixtures and station boards for children’s sized garments?

Eliminate mistakes

By using the Mighty Hoop Station Boards, you will eliminate a lot of staff mistakes. You will not need to worry about correct placement of the design or if it is straight. I have already written a detailed article on how to use the station boards in previous issues of Printwear & Promotion that are available to view on the website archive. If you do not know about these benefits then it is worth reading those article.

Here I am going to show you the benefits of using the Mighty Hoop Infant Station together with the Adjustable Infant Fixture and the Mighty Hoop Medium Station together with the Adjustable Medium Fixture. Both of these sizes will be very useful when doing embroidery on schoolwear.

They say a picture tells a thousand words, so I have left the pictures to do the reading.

Infant Station

The Infant Station is about 8.5in wide. It can be used with all ARM type fixtures. It works great for garments under size 4T. The FreeStyle Arm in the normal kit can be used to hoop small garments that do not fit on the normal station, but if you do a lot of infant items, the special Infant Station can make hooping these items much easier.

The Infant Adjustable Mighty Hoop Fixture can hold Mighty Hoops from 4.25in up to an 11x13in.

Ideal for hoops 8x9in and under. It will not work with the 4.375in round Mighty Hoop.

This fixture is designed for the Infant Station (sold separately). Medium Station

The Medium Station is about 13in wide. It can be used with all ARM type fixtures and the Medium adjustable fixture. It is 3in narrower than the normal station, so it works great for children’s garments down to about 4T.

www.printwearandpromotion.co.uk Medium Adjustable Mighty Hoop Fixture

The Medium Adjustable Mighty Hoop Fixture works just like the normal adjustable fixture, but it is designed for the Medium Station. This fixture will hold all Mighty Hoops up to a 13x16in size on the Medium Station, except the 4.375 Round, but it is most practical for Mighty Hoop sizes between 6.5in and 10x10in. Any hoop wider than the 10x10in will hang over the edge of the station and would probably work better on the normal size station. Smaller hoops will also work, but since it only holds them in the centre and not on the left and right side of the station it is better to have normal dedicated arm fixtures for these. The dedicated fixtures can go on the left and right side as well as the centre.
