Machinery News Trotec launches aff ordable laser cutter

T

he new R400 laser cutter from Trotec will enable small businesses to benefi t from high-quality cutting technology at an affordable price.

Designed by Trotec with Austrian engineering and built to exacting standards, the R400 laser cutter features a 1030x630mm working area and CO2 laser power from 60W-100W. It is an affordable option for small businesses looking for a productive and reliable laser cutter. Bryan Jater, sales director for Trotec UK and Ireland, said: “Too often we see businesses buy into cheap laser cutters

S

because the lower initial outlay is attractive to them. Unfortunately, many soon realise that the laser doesn’t live up to expectations or the frequent costs and downtime for its upkeep are holding the business back. “The R-series is designed and engineered with the dependability and ease-of-use which is synonymous with Trotec, but the DC laser source enables us to sell it at a lower price point. So, it’s accessible for businesses who have a limited budget to start with but don’t want to compromise on quality and reliability.”

The R400 is the latest addition to the R-series of CO2 glass tube laser cutters

The R400

which already includes the R500 with a 1300x900 mm working area. Trotec has six laser showrooms across the UK and Ireland and also offers online demonstrations for the R-series as well its range of large format cutters, Speedy series engravers and galvo laser markers.

Further installs for Kornit Digital in the UK

ast month, Kornit Digital saw many more businesses install its digital textile printing technology in the UK. Dundee-based Tayprint opted for the Avalanche HD6 system to replace the use of screen printing in its operation. This technology reduces the team’s cost per print while making short runs profi table, eliminating inventory and resource waste, speeding production, and ensuring nearly unlimited design capabilities, applied to a

broad array of materials, using a single eco-friendly ink set.

General manager, James Miller, said: “Screens were no longer economical, and Kornit provided the reliable, robust solution and support we needed. The fi nished garment has terrifi c hand feel, for a better product that’s easy to sell to our customers. With this fast, effi cient digital technology in place, we expect to expand this part of our business, and have produced a model to integrate with online business start-ups, which would’ve been a poor fi t for screen-based print operations.” Sheffi eld-based Kitlocker implemented two Avalanche PolyPro systems for effi cient, retail-quality production of branded and customised apparel on demand. Kornit’s PolyPro system is the only

single-step digital DTG technology developed specifi cally for imprinting polyester and poly-blend materials, extending the company’s patented process for waste-free production with durability, precise graphic detail, and the broadest colour gamut to popular sports and athleisure apparel. Mike Kent, co-owner of Kitlocker, said: “The Kornit Avalanche PolyPro allows for far superior quality of fi nish for embellishment compared to traditional print techniques. When we were shopping around for alternatives, it was obvious the sort of single pass, and its ability to print on polyester, was certainly market-leading – there was no alternative that could do that. The machines are quick and reliable, with very little downtime, which is massively important to me as a business owner.”
