Industrial Workwear achieves half-a-million-pound sales boost

he 2020-2021 fi nancial year is concluding as the most challenging but defi ning year for Industrial Workwear, as the Durham-based workwear supplier is set to witness over £500,000 increase in sales.
Underpinning and driving the growth has been the supplier’s highly experienced and hard-working team, which is set to grow as Industrial Workwear opens up fi ve job vacancies.
The company has also been able to give back to the local community, donating thousands-of-pounds worth of face masks to the local academy, local food bank donations and selling essential PPE such as masks at heavy losses to support front line and essential businesses. Shane Parkins, e-commerce manager, said: “The journey Industrial Workwear have been on for the last 12 months has placed them fi rmly as a serious player in the workwear, uniform and PPE industry.

What we’ve accomplished here is nothing short of remarkable. lexandra Workwear has undergone a digital makeover with the launch of
an all-new website.
The site has been designed to deliver a streamlined online experience, which includes enhanced performance optimisations and improved navigation. Artifi cial intelligence is also used within the site’s search functionality to make it easier for customers to fi nd what they are looking for, and to recognise and learn the interests and requirements of customers as they browse. “This new website is equipped with functionality that not only allows us to offer a signifi cantly improved online shopping experience, but also help us to better understand our customers’ needs in a way that will further help us to stand out from our competitors.” The new website forms part of Alexandra’s innovative digital offering which included the launch of AlexDirect – an online personalisation service that sees personalised workwear for businesses, created and delivered within seven working days of a design being submitted.
Last August, in response to coronavirus restrictions, Alexandra also launched a digitised, virtual sizing service to ensure 12,500 healthcare students got perfectly fi tting uniforms at the start of their university courses across the UK. Tailor-made online forms were created for students in different healthcare specialities to complete alongside dedicated ‘how to size yourself’ videos.

This will build upon the company’s deliver-on-time milestone of 99% in the last 12 months. Sarah Hopper, general manager, added: “I’m incredibly proud of the staff here, to say they have gone above and beyond for our customers is a massive understatement. Understandably, at times we have all felt the pressure, ensuring all our customers are catered for. Customers who needed protective equipment to keep their doors open, uniform for staff to operate and above all else a safe pair of hands with expert advice.”
The repivot of Industrial Workwear in recent months wouldn’t be possible without the support of Durham County Council and the business relief provided by the government.
PSI goes digital in May U
nder the name 48 Hours PSI Digital, the trade shows PSI, PromoTex Expo and viscom planned for May 18 to 20 will now take place this year online.
The three trade shows will offer a top-class online programme from May 19 to 20. From Wednesday noon to Friday noon, PSI Digital will offer a virtual trade show experience for 48 hours. Visitors will have access to various PSI sourcing tools, product presentations and a top-class programme, including live interviews and panel discussions broadcast on PSI TV. Online seminars, interviews and how-to videos will also be found on demand.
All trade show visitors will receive a free 48-hour access pass to the PSI Product, Supplier and Distributor Finder.
In addition, from June until January, the digital trade show will be extended to include Digital Fridays. On every second Friday of the month, all participants will have access for one day to a broad programme, as well as the same sourcing and networking offers as in May. The organisers said that ongoing pandemic restrictions and delays in vaccine roll outs meant it was not possible to host a physical event this year. PSI will return in January 2022 at the Düsseldorf exhibition centre.
