From the Plains to the Pacific – two new dark rides in two unique locations. From breathtaking scenery and life-like animatronic figures, to interactive gameplay and dazzling special effects, Sally Dark Ridesʼ custom concepts spin a compelling narrative for themed dark ride attractions. VOLKANU - Quest for the Golden Idol is an original IP, custom designed for Lost Island themepark, Waterloo, Iowa. It is housed inside a monumental volcano, and riders must save the sacred Ora-Tika idol from the evil VOLKANU. Stand-alone location-based attraction Treasure Hunt – The Ride, in Cannery Row, Monterey Bay, California, was created by Daniels Wood Land and Sally Dark Rides. The pirate themed dark ride takes guests through a system of caverns in search of Captain Bouchardʼs lost treasure.

Finally, I would like to say a special ‘thank you’ to Bryony Andrews for helping out with this issue as, after 3.5 fun-filled years at the helm of Park World, I have decided to try my hand in the freelance world.

This issue includes our roller coaster special, taking you through a few of the most exciting new coaster launches worldwide - ranging from Europe to the Middle East to the Americas. Of particular note is the colossal new steel Vekoma offering Fønix (‘Phoenix’ in English), which made its debut at Fårup Sommerland in Denmark last month. More on page 32.
