Best Dark Ride or Media-Based Experience of the Year Intamin Amusement Rides
Danse Macabre at Efteling
On October 31, 2024, Efteling in the Netherlands unveiled Danse Macabre, a world-first attraction
featuring Intamin’s groundbreaking Dynamic Motion Stage ride system. Built on the site of the iconic Spookslot, the attraction reimagines Efteling’s haunted legacy through an innovative fusion of technology, music, and storytelling. Inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns’ 19th-century composition,
the story follows eccentric conductor Joseph Charlatan, whose orchestra vanished after performing Danse Macabre— devoured by “The Unnamable,” a monstrous creature that haunts the ruins to this day.
The ride features six church-stall cabins seating 18 guests each, combining scent effects, seat vibrations, and immersive audio. The 18-meter platform delivers heave, tilt, drop, and full rotation, offering an unprecedented range of synchronized motion.

Best Use of Theming of the Year Dock World at Walibi Belgium
In 2025, Walibi Belgium unveiled Dock World, an ambitious themed land that redefines immersive design in Europe. Created for the park’s 50th anniversary, this hyper-realistic industrial port blends cinematic theming, storytelling, and architecture into a living, breathing world. Divided into two contrasting zones - the colourful Port of Wavre and the darker industrial harbour - Dock World celebrates the park’s origins on water while introducing bold, new creative depth. Anchored by the Mecalodon coaster, Dock World captivates through rich detail: weathered facades, cranes, shipping containers, and a towering 15-metre lighthouse crafted by leading European theming studios. Every texture, sound,

More than a themed area, Dock World is a masterclass in world-building - an emotional, sensory journey that cements Walibi Belgium’s reputation for innovation and creative excellence.
