2025 Park World Excellence Awards in Barcelona S
ince its inception in 2018, the Park World Excellence Awards has firmly established itself as the leading industry awards scheme for the EMEA region, garnering huge respect for its identification and celebration of best-in-class entertainment destinations, projects, products, and people. Organised by Data Team Media, the awards took place at the stunning Barcelona Renaissance Hotel in Barcelona on Wednesday September 24th, recognising the outstanding work of global manufacturers and suppliers working on projects across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Our glorious evening of awards kicked off with Best Roller Coaster of the year, won by Yoy at Walibi Holland, Rocky Mountain Construction. Next up was Best Roller Coaster (Limited Budget) of the year, which went to Helio at Fantasiana, Mack Rides & Universal Rocks.
Best Ride(s) of the year went to both Mission Bermudes at Futuroscope, Mack Rides, and joint winner, Rapids Ride “Amazonia” at Bellewarde.
Next up was Best Ride(s) (Limited Budget) of the year. This was taken home by Kraftverket at Liuseberg, Huss Park Attractions. The Best Dark Ride or Media-based Experience of the year award was up next, taken from the stage by Dance Macabre at Efteling, Intamin Amusement Rides. Best Water Park Experience went to two winners: Bahamut Rage at Yay Waterworld,
The hotly contested Best FEC of the year award went to Seven Squares Grenoble, while Best Live Entertainment went to “50 Years of Emotion. 23 Hours of Magic. One Europa- Park.”
2025
We then celebrated some of the remarkable individuals in our industry, with the Industry Icon (Operator) award going to Richard Pawley – Draton manor and VTP Global, and the Industry Icon (Supplier) award going to Laurence Beckers of Alterface.

FEC Project of the year went to Helios Experience at Portlantis Rotterdam, Simworx, while Best Use of Theming of the year went to Dock World at Walibi Belgium. It was then time for Best Supplier, which I was personally privaledged to award to Rick Hunter of ProSlide Technology. Next up was Best Food or Retail Development, which went to Les Fastes Du Nil at Park Asterix. Some of the heavy-hitter awards were next, the first of which being Best Large Park of the year, which went to Europa-Park. Best Regional Park of the Year went to Walibi Rhone Alpes, while Best Waterpark of the year was taken home by Yas Water World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
The Best Green Initiative of the year went to Paultons Solar, Paultons Park, while Best Product Innovation (Rides/Games/Shows) of the year was awarded to Mission Bermudes – The Rocking Boat at Futuroscope, Mack Rides. As we homed in on the end of the evening, it was time to recognise the Best Product Innovation (Guest Experience/Park Operations) of the year award. This was won by Entrance at Fårup Sommerland, P+P Arkitekter & Alex Korting Themed Entertainment Design.
Best Marketing Initiative of the Year was our penultimate award of the night, going to Warner Bros. World Yas Island Abu Dhabi X Fatafet-85th anniversary of Tom and Jerry. Which left only one award: Best of the Best. And the winner was… Europa-Park. And with that, we were done. It was an amazing night of food, drink, entertainment and networking.
