Gangsta Granny The Ride, Alton Towers
UK. It’s a travelling model made by PWS and belongs to the showman George Burrows but has received additional theming and decorations to fit in with its location. The two other rides making up The
World of David Walliams have been at the park since the 1990’s but have been reimagined to fit in with their newest surroundings with appropriate colour schemes. Raj’s Bouncy Bottom Burp is an S&S
Sansei Frog Hopper mini drop tower. Whilst the Royal Carousel is a Bertazzon Carousel. Delayed from opening in 2020 due to
obvious reasons, Tornado Springs finally made its debut in 2021 featuring four brand new rides, the reimagining of three existing rides, and a whole host of theming and charm. In addition to the Mancey Family, suppliers involved in the project included Mack Rides, Zamperla, Zierer, Garmendale, MK Themed Attractions, Leisure Expert Group and IMAscore. The centre piece attraction is the UK’s
first spinning coaster from Mack Rides, appropriately named Storm Chaser. The layout is a near copy of Sierra Sidewinder
at Knott’s Berry Farm, featuring 459m of track, a drop of 19.5m and a top speed of 59km/h. The ride offers the right amount of thrills and excitement for the park’s target audience. The first drop forms the gateway to Route 83. Al’s Auto Academy is a driving school
experience where those over 0.8m can take to the seat of 1950’s style cars for a drive around Route 83. One of the unique features of this particular driving school is that parents can jump in the car with their little ones to assist with driving or just to have more family fun together. There’s also a raised area over the top of the track ensuring families don’t miss getting a good view of the driving action. Windmill Towers is a double tower ride
attraction from Zierer offering plenty of laughs as the gondolas rotate and bounce up and down. Joining Tornado Springs is a ride that
first debuted in 2003 as Wave Runner but now known as Buffalo Falls. The four lane water slide also provides space for the Storm Chaser queue line which snakes its way through the slides support structure. Trekking Tractors from Metallbau
Emmeln first opened in 2007 but has seen
the tractors be given a paint job and the typical British countryside theming and plants given a makeover so the experience is more in keeping with the Americana landscape of Tornado Springs. One of the oldest attractions in the park,
the Rio Grande Train from Severn Lamb, has also been remodelled and the track’s route changed, so it travels through and around Tornado Springs. It’s the perfect place to be for an up close view of Storm Chaser in action. Tornado Springs has also seen the
arrival of the park’s most intense and thrilling ride to date. Something that was quite unexpected for the family park, but is proving incredibly popular with thrill seeker families, Cyclonator. The Zamperla gyro swing sees riders reach the height of 25m, the highest point in the park. The ride helps to add that extra thrill for families that include older children, and even for the adults themselves. Leaving the park it’s a ride you can over hear a lot of people talking about. Being Paultons Park, Tornado Springs
comes with lots of extra touches including two new playgrounds aimed at different age groups. Tornado Springs has also
