There are so many highlights already this season. We are thrilled to see guests returning to The Funplex Parks and creating new family memories. The most exciting part is to see the overwhelming amount of demand to visit, followed by the opening of The Funplex Myrtle Beach, the first of our parks in a tourist market. It is truly thrilling to see the positive response to such a unique park. Located just a block from the beach and only 18,000 sq feet, Funplex Myrtle Beach features 5 thrill rides, two kiddie rides and the hottest new restaurant in town, Off-the-Coast Beach Bar & Grill. Offering highflying thrills, this park packs a big punch in compact footprint. In Mount Laurel, NJ we plan to open Splash Island, our latest waterpark expansion. This new section of the park includes five new slides, a pool and 10 cabanas, doubling the size of our waterpark overnight.

Stefano Cigarini, Cinecittà World, Italy Italy is reopening and most of the Covid-19 limitations are over. People seems to be willing to take back their life and in search of relief after this long and heavy period. Hope is mixed with caution, especially in crowded places - teenagers lead the way, families are still on hold. Advanced and online booking is executed very close to the visit, almost in real time. Guests appreciate locations immersed in nature, like the new Roma World theme park, while city and amusement parks still suffer. The expected hot summer will reward the water-based parks.

California based amusement rides company, Western Train Co., has begun repairs on the historic 1900s Dentzel Menagerie Carousel at Castle Amusement Park in Riverside, CA. The Carousel, originally found among the first rides in the Historic Knott’s Berry Farm Lagoon, has been at the park in Riverside since the 1980s – installed and originally maintained by long-time owner of Castle Park and theme park legend, Bud Hurlbut & The Hurlbut Amusement Co.

Smurfs theme park re-opens in China After a long period of closure, Smurfs theme park ‘Dream City’ in China has opened its doors again for the public. One of the main attractions is Lagotronics Project’s recently installed GameChanger dark ride, ‘Swamp Adventure’, which is completely themed in Smurfs style.
The Carousel now is under the care of Western Train Co. In 2011, Western Train Co. purchased the rides division of Hurlbut Amusement Co. and along with creating new train rides and carousels, it has been maintaining the majority of Hurlbut built rides ever since. The California based Amusement Company has already performed major repairs for Castle Park, including work on the two Hurlbut train rides that circle the 25 acre grounds. The Dentzel Carousel is expected to be back in operation in July of 2021, just in time for the tail-end of Summer 2021.

Ann-Katrin Dölken, Movie Park, Germany So far, the highlight of our season has been the premiere of our new Multi Dimension Coaster. We have just presented our new “Movie Park Studio Tour” to the public in soft opening mode. Movie Park Germany worked with so many dedicated partners on the project and we are extremely happy about the results: 12 different sets and scenes, a very detailed Hollywood theming and multi-media elements creating an immersive experience for the whole family. This attraction is not only a tribute to our roots as a ‘film park’ and motto “Hollywood in Germany” but also a great step towards the future and vision of the park.”
