Fårup Sommerland, one of Denmark’s biggest amusement parks located in northern Jutland, has unveiled Fønix (Phoenix), a brand-new roller coaster, designed to be the largest, fastest, and “probably the most exciting amusement park ride in the country”. The ride, set to open in April 2022 will stand at 40 metres tall, reach speeds of up to 95 kilometres an hour, feature the world’s first “stall loop” element, and have more airtime than any other amusement park ride in Scandinavia.

“This is an historic day for us here at Fårup Sommerland,” said CEO Niels Jørgen Jensen, as the news was announced on 23 June. “We are extremely proud to finally unveil our plans to develop and build Denmark’s largest and fastest roller coaster, which will be ready for our guests next year. We’ve been working on it for a long time, and I look forward to seeing our guests enjoying what it has to offer.”

Fønix is also said to be the first roller coaster in the world to feature a “stall loop” – an element which combines the all-time favourite classic looping with the inverted stall into one new unique element. In this new element the train is forced into an overhead position by half a loop followed by an inverted camelback where the riders experience a period of 2.5 seconds of weightlessness before entering the second half of the loop combined with a twist.

Island Theme Park. “We partnered with Sony Pictures in order to achieve an authentic experience that will be the first attraction of this level in Russia, in one of the world’s leading theme parks.” “In line with our growing Location Based Entertainment strategy, Dream Island Theme Park has done a fantastic job bringing this beloved brand to life and giving audiences the unique opportunity to transport themselves into the thrilling world of Hotel Transylvania,” said Jeffrey Godsick, EVP of Global Partnerships and Brand Management and Head of Location Based Entertainment at Sony Pictures Entertainment. In addition to the Hotel Transylvania ride,

guests will also find a “Tavern of Fear” snack bar, a “Vampire’s Bite” burger cafe and “Transylvania Treasures,” a gift store filled with Hotel Transylvania themed souvenirs and memorabilia.

Justin Garvanovic, the founder of the European Coaster Club, calls Fønix an exciting and significant addition to Fårup Sommerland. He believes many of the world’s roller coaster enthusiasts will be attracted to what Fønix has to offer, in particular the stall loop. “A ride of this nature is simply wonderful news for us here in Europe. Fønix’s stall loop is just that – something new. It will combine both positive G-Forces and Zero G Force, a perfect combination. I can’t wait to try Fønix and the stall loop, it should be exquisite.”

Danish theming firm MK Themed Attractions assisted UK family park Paultons Park in getting its brand-new themed area, Tornado Springs, ready for 12 April by producing and delivering customised props for the entire area. 
