Ride Profile

Getting guests in a spin

Manufactured by Zamperla, BOOM is the brand-new shot and drop tower ride in Särkänniemi Amusement Park, Finland. The ride launches guests at 4G acceleration up to 68 metres above ground and then lets them freefall down while the tower is spinning. Park World spoke to Europe area sales manager, Nicolas Masin to find out more…..

Can you briefly tell me about the ride experience? The full column rotation of the Z-MAX Tower provides thrill- seekers with a sprawling visual perspective of the lands surrounding it while reaching heights of 68m (223ft). Combining those stunning visuals with unique shoot and bounce movements represents a winning attraction!

What is so special about this ride? The full column rotation represents the special feature of this tower ride (in addition to the gondola’s rotation).

How have visitors reacted to it? Visitors are enthusiastic about the shoot and bounce movement that this newest ride offers, throwing them up into the sky and back down, with the tower spinning around.

The explosive 4G acceleration forces provide fun and an

unexpected sensation as well as a panoramic 360° view. Z-MAX can also be set to stay in place for a default time

high, giving passengers more time for enjoying the spectacular view of the unique surrounding area.

Who approached who about installing a new thrill ride? Särkänniemi Amusement Park was interested in installing a new thrill ride and so they approached us.

How closely did you work with the park to ensure the ride was right for them? Zamperla worked very closely with the park in order to understand the perfect ride for their needs. In particular, we discussed about the specific height the ride would have to reach and the special feature of the full column rotation.

Were there any other companies involved in the project? There were two companies involved in the project, both of which were appointed by the park. The first one was responsible for overseeing the pneumatic system of the ride, the second in charge of controlling the equimpment installation and the security of the site. Our technician had to deal with typical supervisor functions.

How long did the project take from concept to delivery? The project took about one year from the development phase to delivery, from April 2018 to April 2019.
