along the historic harbour in Reykjavík's popular Grandi Harbour District, just minutes from downtown. “We are thrilled to welcome guests to FlyOver Iceland as we unveil a brand
new iconic Icelandic experience,” said Agnes Gunnarsdóttir, General Manager, FlyOver Iceland. “From the pre-ride experiences highlighting Icelandic culture, history and folklore to the visually stunning flight ride to far reaching landscapes, we are excited to share this immersive story with both locals and visitors alike.” The attraction uses the I-ride Panoramic Flight Simulator Attraction developed by
Vekoma Rides and Brogent Technology. The Pursuit FlyOver Iceland flight ride utilizes a moving platform with six degrees of motion, multi-sensory special effects and a 20 meter (66 foot) spherical screen that provides guests with an unparalleled flight across iconic locations and natural landscapes. Special effects, including wind, mist and scents, combine with the ride’s motion to create an unforgettable visceral experience. Prior to the flight ride, the attraction will feature a two-part pre-ride experience that explores the roles of nature, time and humankind on this ancient island while featuring volcanoes, glaciers, trolls and more. These unique multi-sensory spaces, designed by renowned multimedia studio Moment Factory while working closely with FlyOver Iceland’s creative director Rick Rothschild, will form an introductory experience to build anticipation and complement the overall FlyOver experience.
The recently completed landmark building, designed by Iceland architect Páll
Hjaltason of Plús Arkitektar, has been constructed to reflect some of the same industrial influences that form the hallmark of Scandinavian architecture, while carefully observing the industrial and modern feel of the neighbourhood. The building’s design includes standout features like the illuminated, cylindrical theatre, while the interior space offers a café and retail experience in addition to the flight ride and pre-show attractions. FlyOver Iceland marks the first FlyOver attraction outside of North America for the adventure travel brand.
Pursuit recently announced plans to develop FlyOver
attractions in Las Vegas and Toronto. FlyOver Iceland is operated by Pursuit through Iceland’s Esja Attractions ehf (“Esja”).

Tidal Wave to roll into Quassy
Quassy Amusement & Waterpark’s will introduce Tidal Wave 2020, a family ride from the SBF/Visa Group that incorporates a huge clipper-like themed vessel suspended on a swinging pendulum that soars more than 30 feet into the air. “We’re certainly excited about
bringing this new attraction in for next season,” said Quassy president Eric Anderson. “It will replace the Pirate ship, which has been at the park since our centennial in 2008.”
Tidal Wave will have a capacity of 32 people with eight rows of bench seats to
accommodate up to four guests each. As the ship swings back-and-forth, it gains momentum and height, creating the sensation of weightlessness at its highest point. The colourful attraction will also feature a state-of-the-art LED (light emitting diode) lighting system that will illuminate the ride towers and pendulum as well as the entrance area. “Our other new rides installed in recent years all have LEDs and we’ve added the
computerised lights to a number of other existing rides and attractions in the park,” Anderson said of the energy-saving fixtures. Tidal Wave also marks the sixth new ride from SBF/Visa Group that Quassy has
purchased over the past decade. Rides 4 U represents SFB/Visa in the United States and Canada. “We really like the build, looks and repeat ridership in our SBF/Visa lineup,” Anderson asserted. “They’ve been in the business for more than 50 years and have a very diverse catalogue of equipment with hundreds in installations worldwide.”

World’s first escape room on a jet plane flies into London
The Riddle Within – an Escape Rooms team with years of experience staging immersive events has teamed up with one of London’s largest clubs, Studio 338, and the crew behind Brighton’s successful Bewilder Box, to create two experiences which it claims are set to take the escape room industry to the next level. As well as the world’s first escape room on an actual plane,
‘Flight 388’ (taking flight from November 2019), it is also launching Chernobyl: 10 seconds to midnight, based on the HBO drama which will take place from Jan 2020. Both Escape Rooms by The Riddle Within are in London for three months only before they move to their next location around the UK.
