Michigan’s Adventure introduces new ‘Camp Snoopy’ area

coaster and beautiful natural landscaping with plenty of shaded seating and pathways that offer something to explore around every corner.

ichigan’s Adventure, Muskegon, Michigan, will debut its new Peanuts themed kids’ area, Camp Snoopy, for Spring of 2020. Camp Snoopy will feature five family rides, including a family-friendly roller

For 2020, Camp Snoopy adds five new rides aimed to please families with kids

from toddlers to tweens. Little thrill seekers can join parents and grandparents on the Woodstock Express family roller coaster by Chance Rides with plenty of ups and downs, just like the flight of Snoopy’s best bird buddy. Adventurers can board Beagle Scout Lookout from Zamperla, a version of a colourful hot air balloon and float high in the sky. Kids can climb aboard Mud Buggies by Zamperla, their very own all-terrain vehicle for a bouncy ride. Camp Bus, a fun family ride from Zamperla, takes passengers soaring up and down and all around on a wacky bus with Snoopy in the driver’s seat. Riders on Zamperla’s Trail Blazers buckle in and zoom around a track, like an off-road expedition. In addition, the new Beagle Scout Acres features a large climb-and-play structure with lots of interactive features and things to climb. “The significant expansion and imaginative theming of our children’s attractions

reinforces Michigan’s Adventure as one of the region’s top destinations for families,” said Camille Jourden-Mark, vice president and general manager at Michigan’s Adventure. “The new Camp Snoopy joins attractions such as the award-winning Shivering Timbers roller coaster and WildWater Adventure water park in providing our guests with unique opportunities for creating family memories for generations to come.”

Whitewater publishes Splash Factor Report

By using a quantitative research methodology, WhiteWater surveyed over 100 parks around the world last year to probe deeper into its parks’ water ride element, therefore enabling them to create an industry benchmark. Leveraging the results of this study, it is sharing its findings through the Splash Factor Report. Its goal is to provide a better understanding of the emerging trends in the water ride market across different regions. Some of the key findings of the report include that one out of

four parks have not optimised their water rides to their full potential. Despite being a classic experience, one in five parks do not have a water ride. Unlike larger and full-scale parks, medium and small- sized parks are generally missing out on the opportunity to offer guests a water ride experience in their ride mix. Water rides are most valued for their iconic big splash, entertainment across age- groups, and the classic flume experience. The full report is available upon request.

Fantasy Island adds two rides

Fantasy Island Amusement Park, Beach Haven, New Jersey, has opened its newest ride, Lighthouse Launch, featuring an 80-foot drop from a sky tower that resembles Long Beach Island’s historic Barnegat Lighthouse. Fantasy Island guests chose the ride’s name with a vote on social media. “We are proud to give guests the chance to experience ‘Old Barney’ in a thrilling new way,”

said Brian Wainwright, CEO. “Lighthouse Launch combines the thrill of a great sky tower with the nostalgia of an LBI landmark and spectacular views of Beach Haven and beyond.” Built by Zamperla, the ride begins by slowly bringing riders up to the top of the tower, giving

them time to enjoy bay and ocean views depending on their seat. After a slight pause at the top, riders experience an exhilarating series of quick drops and launches. Lighthouse Launch can accommodate 12 guests at a time with a minimum height requirement of 42 inches to ride. Lighthouse Launch is the second new ride added during Fantasy Island’s 2019 season,

following the Surf & Spin teacup-style ride from SBF-Visa that opened earlier this summer. In other 2019 enhancements, the park has upgraded its restrooms, renovated the ice cream shop now renamed Scoops Up, added a new MiniMelts kiosk, and opened new boardwalk games pavilions. Slated to open soon is a new guest services booth where guests will be able to purchase or reload the cards they use for all the rides and attractions. “We expect Lighthouse Launch to become a guest favourite,” said Wainwright. “I love seeing

our guests’ faces when they try something new, and I can’t wait for everyone’s reactions as they take their first ride on Lighthouse Launch!”
