Park Word
in association with
The November/ December issue of Park World seems to grow exponentially each year. This issue, like the 2017 edition and the 2016 before that, is the largest in the magazine’s history, reaching a whopping 136 pages of park profiles, ride profiles, operator guides and event reports. It is also my last issue of Park World. After a
wonderful 15 months editing the magazine, I am moving to New Zealand! Theme parks are a little thin on the ground in the ‘land of the long white cloud’, but there are visitor attractions aplenty – most of them involving jumping off something high. I’m looking forward to getting more familiar with the country’s thriving adventure tourism sector, which is really just an elaborate way of saying I plan to have a lot of fun… I’m not a writer for nothing. This issue of Park World is our IAAPA Attractions Expo special. We profiled two of 2018’s biggest new European coasters: Liseberg’s B&M dive coaster Valkyria (page 40), and Energylandia’s record- breaking, sci-fi themed, Intamin offering, Hyperion (page 72). We also have a number of specialist articles offering guidance on practical topics related to the running of a theme park business, including guides to in-house marketing, successful merchandising, and staff training. I can’t express how much I have enjoyed editing
Park World and being a part of such an exciting, dynamic industry. However, I will be leaving the publication in the safe hands of Becci Knowles, who will be in Orlando and is keen to get stuck into the industry and meet as many people as possible. You can reach her at
