How do you ensure you stay connected with visitors in the lead-up to the summer season?


Rebecca Ellis, Dreamland, UK: Dreamland is now a multi-faceted venue that offers a plethora of entertainment throughout the year. Whilst the amusement park is the key factor for drawing in visitors during the summer season, the events and festivals we curate outside of this enable us to keep connecting with people and to build our profile as a destination all year round.


Phil Ligget, Six Flags St. Louis: We have a large base of loyal Season Pass and Membership holders and because they visit frequently, our goal is to offer many different thrills and events that continue to give them new experiences. We kick off the 2018 season in March by offering guests the opportunity to experience one of our most popular coasters, Batman: The Ride, backward and in May we open the new Typhoon Twister in Hurricane Harbor. Additionally, we look for ways to provide the best value. To that end we are offering new Membership packages in 2018 and continue to offer multiple levels of our popular All Season Dining Pass so guests can choose the one that best fits their lifestyle.


Chris Thorpe, Darien Lake: During the off-season, we engage with all of our fans and followers through social media, e-blasting and our website. In addition to offering them the best deals to plan their summer trip, we get to learn more about their favorite Darien Lake memories and how we can improve for opening day.

tonnes of soil were excavated to make way for the new Wicker Man coaster that opens at Alton Towers next month. The 2,000ft track is made entirely from naturally treated timber, and was hand-carved for the project over a span of four years. Alton Towers has invested £16million into the creation of the Wicker Man.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg has closed Curse of DarKastle. When opened in 2005 it raised the bar for sophisticated, affordable dark rides – the first time a regional park introduced an original dark ride project to challenge Disney and Universal. It will be replaced with a special events venue to be named either Gartensburg Castle, NewKastle or Oktoberfest Palaste.


Legoland Florida has closed Island in the Sky, a 100 foot (30 m) rotating platform ride that offered a 360° view of the entire park.
