which stands around 70 feet (21 m) tall. On the Lasso Loop, which is the nation’s tallest indoor AquaLoop slide, riders zoom through a translucent slide at a high-speed, 45º angle before plunging into the pool below. The Yellow Jacket Drop, the first indoor combination of the Boomerango and Constrictor, is an enclosed slide through which an inner-tube rider serpentines to an open drop, which sends them high up onto a wall, providing a moment of zero gravity. Guests will also see the Aquanaut, the first indoor double rider Aquasphere inner-tube ride. It’s an inner tube slide that takes guests up high banking domes within the slide. Completing the slide lineup is Prairie Plunge, an enclosed body slide that hides an open 50-foot (15 m) 40 mph (64 kph) drop. Aimed at thrill-seekers, the double lane FlowRider is a high-tech simulation surf machine. A calmer, more leisurely experience can be found by grabbing a tube and floating the longest indoor lazy river in Texas (600 feet or 183m).
Under one umbrella The structure and slides aren’t the only amenities that make this a one-of-a-kind facility. With a 4,000 square foot (372 sq m) arcade filled with a combination of new and retro games, there is truly something for all ages. ‘The Epic, located next door to Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark, is filled with a variety of amenities for individuals and families to enjoy. This mega recreation centre aims to appeal to all ages, and includes a
culinary arts kitchen, a complete adventure track, an artist-in- residence, a recording studio and a radio station, a culinary cooking theatre, film-editing bays, and a performing arts theatre and outdoor amphitheatre. Meanwhile, through field trips and group visits, students can learn all about the inner-workings of waterparks, general water safety, and how to be aware of their surroundings at public waterparks, pools as well as their own neighborhood or backyard pool. Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark is also partnering with Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, and scouts will be able to earn an official Epic Waters badge after completing an educational swimming and water safety course.
Looking to the future, the next stage of the project will make it debut later this year: PlayGrand Adventures will be a brand new venue for children and adults of all abilities. Featuring adventure areas designed to stimulate, challenge, and encourage social interaction, the playground is being funded by charitable donations and will be free to the public.
Epic Waters is part of an on-going, overall park project at Grand Central in Grand Prairie, Texas, which will also include The Epic, a state-of-the-art recreation centre; adventure playground PlayGrand Adventures; trail systems, and an amphitheatre.
