Expansion planned at Maurer

The Great Lego Race comes to Florida

Legoland Florida has transformed existing Project X roller coaster into a high-octane, virtual reality experience that puts guests in the driver’s seat for a race against a colorful lineup of Lego mini-figure characters. Developed under the supervision of Merlin Magic Making, the global creative

and delivery division of Merlin Entertainments, The Great Lego Race is a virtual reality designed specifically for kids - the VR headsets are designed to fit both adults and children. With animated action taking place on the ground and in the air, the race pits guests against a pirate, wizard, surfer and pharaoh as they steer Lego-built vehicles like a rocket-powered windsurfing rig, a stylish scooter fueled by espresso and an ornately canopied bed carried by mummy servants.

T

o accommodate an increased volume of incoming orders, Maurer Rides is expanding to open joint facilities in Kirchheim near Munich, together with its development partner, Beutler Transport Systeme.

The new location is located in Kirchheim, only 15 minutes from Maurer’s headquarters in Munich. Moving forward, the spare parts supplies and vehicle construction will be relocated to this site, as well also the engineering capacities of the two partner companies. In other news, Maurer has launched new ride concept Spike® SPINNER (pictured), the

inspiration for which is based on the popular fidget spinner toys. Spike Spinner accelerates riders through dynamic S-Curves with crosses and underpasses. Total concentration is required before the launch. Riders who react just in time at the start light will gain enough momentum to clear the initial hill and drive with an extra boost. Otherwise a second attempt is necessary to get over the hill. With a track length of approximately 240m and a base area of 40m sq, the ride has a capacity 480 people per hour.

Actventure Advisory Board meets in Dubai

With the UAE’s leisure and entertainment (L&E) industry forecast to reach 45 million visitors a year by 2021, the advisory board of Actventure, the integrated active lifestyle destination being developed on Australia’s Sunshine Coast, convened in Dubai to discuss potential locations and partners for a UAE roll out. Owned by the UAE-based Najibi Investments, Actventure is currently conducting bulk earthworks and construction should begin in the fourth quarter of 2018. Empirical evidence shows that hotels located close or within water park

developments achieve higher occupancy rates and longer lengths of stay. Actventure named three top global executives to serve on its Advisory Board last year to bolster its strategic vision and global expansion plans: Joe Zenas, CEO of Thinkwell Group; Fredrik Jonsson, founder and managing partner of Mereha, and Geoff Chutter, president and CEO of Whitewater.
