Noland joins accesso
Paul Noland has resigned as IAAPA president and CEO, and will succeed Steve Brown as accesso CEO, effective April 9, 2018. Brown will step down from the accesso board of directors at that time and will continue to serve as an advisor to both Noland and the accesso board throughout 2018.
Noland joins accesso on the heels of its acquisitions of Ingresso and The Experience Engine in 2017. The IAAPA Board of Directors will conduct a worldwide search for Noland’s replacement. IAAPA CFO Hal McEvoy will lead the global association for the attractions industry as interim president and CEO during the transition. McEvoy joined IAAPA as chief financial officer in April 2017 following a successful 42-year career with Busch Entertainment Corporation/ SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. McEvoy has an extensive background in corporate finance, accounting, financial controls, audit, and operations.
Operators gather at IAAPA FEC summit 2018

ore than 160 family entertainment center (FEC) industry professionals from 32 states and eight countries gathered in Laguna Beach, California, for IAAPA FEC Summit 2018. The two-day event, which is organized and
hosted by IAAPA, took place at the Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa, January 28 to 30, 2018. Attendees heard from keynote speaker, Bruce Cameron, owner of Front Line
Marketing. Cameron guided participants through his company’s employee engagement process, so they could create an action plan for their facilities to increase productivity without having a negative impact on expense. Keynote speaker, Annika Chase, vice president of marketing strategy for Disneyland Resort, shared Disneyland’s approach to attracting consumers with the Disney brand through strategic storytelling that engages consumers before, during, and after their visit. Additional breakout sessions covered topics important to the industry including
human resources, risk management, sales, finance, and technology in food and beverage operations. Attendees also took part in a special networking event at Boomers! in Irvine, California, in honor of IAAPA’s 100th anniversary. Post-event facility tours included visits to local FECs, including Mulligan’s Round One, Big Air Trampoline Park, and Dave and Buster’s. Plans are already underway for IAAPA FEC Summit 2019, taking place January 27 to 29 in Austin, Texas.
New Efteling attraction in 2020 ADVERT
The Dutch theme park is submitting an application to expand by eight hectares and add a new attraction in 2020. The expansion is described in the draft development plan ‘World of Efteling 2030’ and involves enlarging the eastern side of the park. The municipal council is expected to sanction the development plan this summer, while Efteling has requested to advance one section in order to start preparing the land for the first part of the project. Further details with be announced at a later date.
