TailSpin Racer debuts at Dollywood’s Splash Country

A

new family racing slide, the TailSpin Racer, has been introduced at Dollywood’s

Splash Country, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. A Whitewater West Whizzard, this five-story slide offers six people the chance to race each other. With all the fun of a traditional mat racer-style slide riders face tight turns and daring drops within an enclosed slide. The new attraction takes pride of place near the front of the water park. “TailSpin Racer is our first new attraction since we opened our water

coaster, RiverRush,” explained Dollywood’s Splash Country General Manager Mike Brown. “This is something our guests have been asking for and we are thrilled that we’re delivering a family slide that gives six people the chance to race at the same time.”

Darien Lake’s Viper turns 35

Darien Lake, Darien Center, New York, opened the doors for its 54th season in early May, with the new season marking a significant landmark occasion. The parks signature coaster, the Viper reached its 35th birthday, originally opening in 1982. The 121-foot coaster pioneered five inversions, including a vertical loop, a boomerang and a corkscrew in its 3,100-foot layout. The ride finishes through a partially subterranean horizontal spin and following Viper 77 five-inversion coasters operate today. A special 35th anniversary party was held in June. “Many of our guests throughout the years have pinpointed the first time they were tall enough to ride the Viper as one of their fondest memories,” said Darien Lake General Manager Chris Thorpe. “Thirty-five years later, it’s a wonderful thing to see those guests bring their children and grandchildren here to recreate that special moment.”

Phase one of Poland's largest amusement park to debut with Waterworld

Phase one of a new entertainment facility, Park of Poland, will debut this month with the opening of an indoor aqua park named Waterworld. The first phase of this new park will showcase a variety of Polin’s waterslides in a glass-enclosed water park. Upon completion the overall facility will become the largest amusement park in not only Poland but all of Central and Eastern Europe, expected to be second only to Disneyland Paris in size and scope. A giant all-glass enclosure is home to the new aqua park, which will cover 49

acres and feature more than a dozen of Polin Waterparks’ signature waterslides. All waterslides have been configured especially for this new aqua park and are housed under a glass-paneled domed roof, which can slide open or closed to accommodate any weather. The new park is being developed by Global City Holdings in cooperation with

strategic partner Wund Unternehmensgruppe who will be responsible for managing the waterpark. The firm has significant experience in this field currently operating four large waterparks in Germany. The Park of Poland has a budget of €180 million (US$190.6), with further investments expected to be completed in the next six years.
