This is my first issue as the Editor of Park World and I could not wait to get started. Having been through every back issue possible, I am so excited and honoured to be trusted with such a well-loved industry title. With a history spanning over four decades taking on Park World – the original theme and amusement park trade publication – and doing it justice is quite a challenge, but one I am confident I can rise to. Having taken on the role a month ago, the whole team
have been so welcoming, including Paul Ruben our North American editor. I have even had the chance to pick the brains of Owen Ralph, Park World’s former editor. After confiding in him that I was slightly worried about having such big shoes to fill one thing he said really stuck out to me. He told me not to worry because everyone in this industry really is super friendly, after all this is an industry of fun.
I can honestly say after working on the title now for just
over a month, I have found this to be completely true. Having helped out with producing the May issue, and writing my very first Park World feature about the development of VR - I have already had a taste of what a brilliant industry this is to work in. Hopefully I have already been in contact with many of
you, introducing myself or maybe even already hounding you for words, photos or other information. I have been lucky enough to attend a TEA event, which took us on a backstage tour of the new Gruffalo ride at Chessington World Of Adventures, and the Derren Brown Ghost Train at Thorpe Park.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch either through our twitter page @ParkWorldMag or through a good old- fashioned email (my email address is below). From what I have seen Owen, Paul and everyone else involved in Park World magazine have done a fantastic job over the last 15 years. I can’t wait to build upon the success of this great magazine, and make sure it continues to be an engaging read for everyone in the attractions industry. Here’s to the next 15 (or even 50) years!
