Unexplained Events “Kings Island has a history with wooden coasters,” notes Mike Koontz, Kings Island’s Vice-President and General Manager. “The Racer and The Beast are two classic wooden coasters that have given millions of rides that our guests have enjoyed for many decades. Also, we had just added Banshee, a B&M record breaking steel coaster, in 2014. By adding a wooden coaster to our collection, we set another world record for the park with the most wooden coaster track.” Good theming enhances any attraction, and Kings Island
has themed their new woodie. “Mystic Timbers is a story- driven attraction offering a ride experience that is fun, thrilling and memorable for our guests,” said Koontz. “It’s everything a modern day wooden roller coaster should be, and more. Theming of rides is becoming more important in our industry. The name, Mystic Timbers, and the theming elements that were developed had to fit the ride, the area, and the story that was being developed.”

By the time they reach the shed at the end of the ride with heightened curiosity they won’t be disappointed.
What’s in the Shed? “We knew Mystic Timbers had to be more than just a wooden coaster,” recalled Koontz. “With the assistance of our corporate planning and design team and Holovis Attractions, we started developing a story that would make Mystic Timbers a different ride experience for our guests.” The resulting ride has quickly become very popular with park guests. “Mystic Timbers is a ride that both families and thrill seekers will enjoy,” promises Koontz. “With a 48 inch (122 cm) height requirement, this is the first ‘big’ coaster for kids to enjoy with their parents and grandparents. And, our thrill seekers appreciate the speed and airtime that it delivers as well. The
