Company Profile

A fighting chance!

How did the company start? Harold Chance founded our company in 1961 with the production of the C.P. Huntington miniature train. From there he began to produce carnival rides. Chance was the first company to create rides mounted to the trailer, significantly reducing setup, tear down and moving costs for carnival operators.

Chance rides are a family run business that have been manufacturing great rides for over fifty years. But what is the key to their long lasting success? Park World editor Lauren Barnett spoke to Lisa Hargrove, Marketing Manager at Chance Rides to find out…

How has the company grown and developed since then? Over the years we have expanded our product selection through acquisition and internal development. Purchasing companies such as The Allen Herschel Company, and Morgan Manufacturing, which added carousels and roller coasters to our product mix. We have also done plenty of internal development as well as licensing to ensure that we are offering what our customers need to entertain their guests.

How do you think the rich family history of the company has influenced where you are today? As a family owned business the history of our creation is never far from our minds when we decide how to proceed in the future. We always want to make sure that our progress honors our founders memory. We bear the Chance name with pride in all of our endeavors and our strong history helps to make us a trusted partner to our customers. We have a name known throughout this industry and it is associated with quality, creativity and reliability.

What are some of your biggest achievements? Some of our most notable projects are of course the observation wheels that have been installed in 6 different major markets so far, these are projects that truly create an icon for their city and always invoke pride when we as employees see them featured on Monday night football games or travel brochures or TV commercials.
