he intense academic agenda included, among others, speakers such as Andrés Vanegas, Director of Operations of Carruseles SA, president of the subcommittee on security for Latin America, member of the Global Security Committee and the Advisory Committee for Latin America, member of IAAPA and member of The Board of Directors of ACOLAP (Colombia); José Garcidueñas, president of Six Flags Mexico; Luis Miguel Trujillo, international coach, expert in human talent development (Colombia); Franceen Gonzales, Vice President of White Water Industries (Canada); Sara Brady, expert in the management of crisis communications (USA); Andrés Castañeda, new Business Manager of Salitre Mágico (Colombia); Mario Sorribas Fierro, Storytelling expert (Spain) and Yokoi Kenji Díaz, director of the Tourism with Purpose Foundation (Colombia-Japan). with the participation of 62 exhibitors from 10 countries including Italy, the United States, Spain, China, Canada, Colombia, Argentina, Turkey and Switzerland. This trade event, held every two years, is considered to be the most important event in Latin America and is regarded as the best opportunity for networking and business consolidation in the region.


The meeting and the fair took place between May 24 and


27, at the Cartagena Convention Center. The academic agenda was developed from three thematic axes: Security, Service and Communications, essential aspects for the sustainability and growth of the sector. The opening was given by Paul Noland, IAAPA's highest


authority, who referred to the different scenarios in which the organization contributes to the development of the industry in Latin America, especially in matters related to safety. Noland also highlighted the growth of the sector in Latin America and said that it has much potential, more now that civilian governments have increased. He added that in recent times the parks have increased their revenues and are expecting further growth for the next 5 years. "In the interviews that I have had with businessmen, a very


positive scenario is perceived in Colombia, especially because of the stability of the economy," said Noland, who added he was very proud of the meeting in Cartagena.


Communication Sara Brady, a well-known communications professional in the United States, was in charge of the conference on handling communications in crisis situations at amusement parks; An aspect of great importance, bearing in mind that the incidents and accidents that occur in its facilities pose a great threat to businessmen and industry in terms of reputation and income. Brady has managed very sensitive issues like the tragic death of a child attacked by a caiman at Walt Disney World. For the expert, the important thing is to be prepared for when a crisis occurs, to have a plan and to train those involved in the communication according to that plan. Companies must be prepared for the unexpected and be able to focus on the problem and be in control of the situation
