SEASON PREVIEW: NORTH AMERICA Six Flags St. Louis, Eureka, Missouri, will take guests on the


new Supergirl attraction as they soar nearly seven stories high in open-air vehicles. Thrill-seekers spin and tilt while suspended from the massive, whirling wheel, an Endeavour by Zamperla. As part of Wildwood Grove, Dollywood will introduce five flat


rides including Black Bear Trail, a Metallbau Emmeln Pony Trek, Sycamore Swing, a Galleon by Zamperla, a Zamperla Samba Tower, Treetop Tower, Mad Mockingbird, a Flying Scooter from Larson International, and Frogs and Fireflies, a Zamperla Jump Around. Six colorful, themed rides in the new Sesame Street themed land


at SeaWorld Orlando will include Elmo’s Choo Choo Train, Cookie Drop, Big Bird’s Twirl N’ Whirl tea cups, Abbey’s Flower Tower, and Slimey’s Slider, a slide and glide ride. Super Grover’s Box Car Derby from Zierer is a family-friendly coaster, the perfect first steel roller coaster for kids and adults. Chance Rides is supplying a family roller coaster for the


new American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey. A Chance Unicoaster is also destined for that location, along with a custom themed rocket ship to sit atop the Unicoaster. American Dream is also getting a two-story Chance carousel that comes with custom theming. A new R-60 Observation Wheel is being fabricated by Chance


for Union Station in St. Louis, Missouri, along with a 36 foot (11 m) Carousel, the seventh one they have built. Both will be operated by Icon Attractions on behalf of Lodging Hospitality Management. Bay Beach Amusement Park, Green Bay, Wisconsin, will erect a


$3.5 million Giant Wheel by Chance Rides. To be called Big Wheel, it will rise 90 feet (27 m) near the water at Bay Beach. An SBF/Visa Crazy Cabs will appear to Knoebels Amusement Resort, Elysburg, Pennsylvania,

Sunland Park, New Mexico. Clementon Park & Splash World, Clementon, New Jersey, is


adding four new, retro rides including three flat rides and a roller coaster. The flat rides are a Pirate Ship from SBF/Visa, an Eli Bridge Scrambler, and a Tilt-A-Whirl by Larson International. Landry’s, Houston, Texas, adds two SBF/Visa Kiddie Wheels. Casino Pier, Seaside Heights, New Jersey, will introduce an


SBF/Visa mini Break Dance and Centrifuge, an indoor Scrambler by Eli Bridge. Playland’s Castaway Cove, Ocean City, New Jersey, is


preparing for its 60th year of operation by adding four new rides including a new Matterhorn from Bertazzon, Squadron 66 airplane ride from Technical Park, Double Shot from S&S-Sansei, and a three- lane Super Slide by Dartron. Storybook Land, Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, just


installed a new Zamperla Su and Zo ride, but Storybook Land is calling it Deep Sea Divers. Beach Bend, Bowling Green, Kentucky, will introduce the unusual


bumper car turned laser shooting game this summer with their new attraction, Lazer Fury 360, a Laser Fury 360 Galactic Defense System from Amusement Products. Quassy Amusement & Waterpark, Middlebury, Connecticut,


will install a new Bouncing Buggies ride from Zamperla. In addition to the roller coaster mentioned earlier, Jenkinson’s


Boardwalk, Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, will add a three-lane Fun Slide by Frederiksen Industries Inc and a new Flying Buccaneers family ride from SBF/Visa. Knoebels Amusement Resort, Elysburg, Pennsylvania, introduces Tumbling Timbers, a 16-passenger Mini Break Dance from SBF/Visa.


DARK RIDES The first new ride to open this year did so on January 1 at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, San Antonio, Texas. A dark ride, Pirates of the Deep Sea is a collaboration between Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Magic in the Sky theme park suppliers who refurbished on old Sally Corp. Scooby-Doo dark ride. Hersheypark, Hershey, Pennsylvania, will introduce an interactive


dark ride, Reese’s Cupfusion. Sally Corporation is the manufacturer and Raven Sun Creative will handle the design elements of Reese’s Cupfusion. It is a retheming of Reese’s Xtreme Cup Challenge. In a re-theming of the Sally Ghost Blasters dark ride at Elitch


Gardens, Denver, Colorado, the art collective Meow Wolf is partnering with the park to create what is described as the “first artist-driven dark ride,” Meow Wolf’s Kaleidoscape.
