ELECTRONIC TABLE GAMES Alfastreet
Slovenian experts look at the future of the ETGs market ETGs trends
It is very diffi cult to forecast how the ETG industry will turn in the next few years, but we believe that the ETG market will not change signifi cantly, since all manufacturers are constantly developing new cabinets, new games and features to attract existing and above all, the younger players. On the other hand, operators are also looking to lower the costs of the personnel, which is an undeniably strong argument for having ETGs on casino fl oors. After the pandemic almost all markets are facing huge issues with manpower, causing the same or even increased demand for this type of machines. The markets themselves are in constant development and change - the vast experience that Alfastreet has acquired in 30 years of creating these markets, made us realize that every generation is a little bit different and it’s always a challenge to predict which games will be popular.
Future development
Alfastreet believes that in the future only a few companies will be capable of resisting the above mentioned trends and competing in the market of electronic machines. The development and production require extensive investments in capable, highly skilled human resources, which will push the standards across the board, going from initial research all the way to the fi nal implementation of the product. Needless to say, tech support has always been Alfastreet’s jewel and sets us apart signifi cantly from the rest of the industry.
Expectations
Alfastreet is very satisfi ed with the sales results after two objectively diffi cult years and we are expecting a good beginning to 2023 since the production is already full until the end of the current year. We feel that the release of the restrictions let the players back to the casinos worldwide and they caused an immediate spike in revenues, after being unable to play for considerable periods. It seems that the majority of players still prefer live contact with the gaming source by far, compared to online surrogates.
Online gaming eff ect
We are monitoring the consistent rise in popularity of online gaming and this will
30 DECEMBER 2022
certainly have an impact on the ETG industry, but at the moment it’s difficult to say what the results will be like in the next 5 years, because it depends on many factors, for example how much market share we will be able to get, how the gaming legislation will develop, as well as how many new licenses will be released in different territories. The fact is that people are social creatures who need to connect with one another to enjoy life outside the home and we don’t see casino venues being replaced by online gaming any time soon.
ETGs versus online gaming
The target players of the ETGs are still quite conservative and we do not expect any drastic changes, as they have their own preferences and habits, which are radically opposed to slot machine players, just to make an example. Alfastreet is investing a
lot in development and the goal is to make existing games even more interesting and enticing, adding new features, designs, and game content. There are already manufacturers in the market offering “out of the box” games related to traditional table games, but as we see there is a very low percentage of such implementations in the long term. It is possible that the habits and mentality of the players will change with the next generation, maybe in the next five year period, but at the moment it is unlikely that major innovations will be required.
Future gaming
The most likely development to be expected from the global markets is the horizontal integration of the various providers in a package gaming product, that will offer full access to all the offers from the casino, including live & electronic games, promotions, sports betting, and entertainment, that will not only cater to the needs of the player inside the venue but through online availability from virtually anywhere. We can already see this trend in big stadium ETG setups, where the player can access a wide variety of games and services from any gaming station. And given the rate at which these technologies are developing it seems highly probable that this is the way for future gaming venues.
