Editor’s comment
If you had asked me at the turn of the year whether I would be leaving Casino International by year end, I would have likely scoffed. And I don’t mean eaten heartily – I mean scathingly snorted. But here we are, 17 years down the road of life, and I’m writing my last ever editorial for the magazine.
It’s been a great journey, honestly. I’ve met a lot of wonderful people, I’ve been to some wonderful places; I’ve been to some awful places too, and met some awful people. Luckily the awful was just a tiny part of the journey. I’ll be staying in the industry, more than likely, and I will still be a host of The Gambling Files Podcast. (Did you know we just found out it’s in the top 10% of most-shared podcasts globally on Spotify? I KNOW, RIGHT. Madness. But it’s enjoyable, fun madness, so I’ll keep going with it.)
One of the most enjoyable things about recent years on the magazine has been meeting and working with Anjali, who is now putting together the Gaming International Online pages. She’s a natural, and the sky is genuinely the limit for her. I’m putting it in writing here so she can’t forget.
Why am I leaving? I can’t say here. Someone might be reading. There’s just no privacy in print.
Anyway, the time has come to step away and hand the magazine over to someone more competent, better looking, taller and with his own hair. And with that in mind… Welcome back Matt Broughton! Matt used to edit the GIO pages, and he returns to take on the main magazine. Best of luck with it Matt!
