It’s diffi cult, thinking up words of wisdom every month. 12 times a year I have to think of something witty, urbane, and not crap. I’d say at least 10 times a year I fail at that, and the other two occasions are hit and miss. But here I am again, trying again – what’s that Japanese expression again? Fall down seven times, stand up eight.
One of the things making pithy observation diffi cult is that really, for the
fi rst time in a very long time, the casino industry is relatively static. Oh, not on the gaming fl oor, where teams are working harder than ever to keep customers as safe as possible during the period of COVID. I just mean there is not that much happening in the wider industry. Sure, Japan is now saying it won’t really be looking at IRs for quite a while now – but with the procrastination we have already witnessed this is no surprise and may well have been the path we saw with or without COVID’s intervention. Not being negative – any government should be cautious and explore its commitment fully before opening up a new gaming market. It’s just, you know, it would be nice to shout about something good, as this year has been pretty damn short of highlights.
And with that in mind, when you read this Circa should have opened in
Downtown Las Vegas. Fingers crossed for everyone involved that the opening goes well, can’t wait to come and see the new property! Enjoy the issue – highlight is the Sim Bielak interview on page 60, but in
