…HELLO 2018!
Martin de Knijff CEO, Metric Gaming
What were the biggest launches for Metric in 2017? One key 2017 (spring) launch for Metric was its market-leading golf product, showcased by the product’s first customer, BetStars. We have been pleased with its reception and our growing reputation as a premiere provider of end-to-end golf betting solutions – an area we continue to believe carries significant growth potential. We are also proud of our expanding team of experienced and talented traders in the company’s new London headquarters, which we see as a pivotal component of our business’s future.
What do you think was the most important occurrence for the industry in 2017?
The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to hear Christie v. NCAA – that case (whether via the court’s decision directly, or simply as a result of the national attention it brings to the issue) could usher in widely legalized betting to the United States sooner than virtually anyone had anticipated.
What are you most excited about for the industry in 2018? The potential repeal of PASPA (i.e. the federal law prohibiting states

What were the biggest launches for WorldMatch in 2017?
At the beginning of 2017
WorldMatch released as many as 12 HTML5 video poker games; a complete game batch that includes all the variants of video poker, all equipped with jackpot. As it already was for our slot machines, our video poker games now guarantee optimized usability and a totally equivalent game experience regardless of the device. Nowadays our game portfolio features
200+ casino games: 160 slot machines with 70 different game engines, 30 table and card games, 12 video poker for all desktop and mobile devices. Being able to release an average of two
new games a month, WorldMatch is renowned for his production capacity and among all the launches of 2017 I’d mention two slot machines we’re really proud of: Robotika HD and Matryona Spin HD. On the top of all that, in 2017 WorldMatch
touched down for the first time in Spain and accomplished the DGOJ (Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling) certification process.
What do you think was the most important occurrence for the industry in 2017? I believe that the rise of mobile games has
outside of Nevada from legalizing conventional sports betting) as early as June 2018, which would allow individual states to legalize betting. That decision would in turn unlock a legal U.S. betting market with revenue potential in excess of $40bn – the most significant event in global sports betting that the industry has ever witnessed.
What are you most excited about for your own company in 2018? The VirginBet sportsbook launch, which will be a landmark moment for Metric representing our first full sportsbook platform launch with a Tier 1 gaming
operator. We have worked closely with Gamesys [the owner of the VirginBet brand] to create a uniquely compelling betting experience, and are eager to see its commercial reception in 2018.
Anything else you’d like to say about the passing of 2017 and 2018’s arrival? 2017 has been a seminal year for Metric Gaming in our journey from “start-up” to established industry player, seeing major developments in the company’s leadership, product line and betting solutions. We very much look forward to sharing some of these developments with the industry at ICE in the new year.
been truly extraordinary, even though it was not unexpected, nor unpredictable. Revenues generated by mobile gaming have been relentlessly increasing throughout last year and eventually overtook those generated on desktop devices. We anticipated this trend and
were the first to launch onto the Italian market; our main target, a batch of certified casino games developed specifically for mobile
devices, in native iOS and Android and in HTML5. For sure this has been one of our major success over the last years.
What are you most excited about for the industry in 2018? The incessant emergence of Latin America is a very interesting and stimulating phenomenon. Brazil has the potential to become one of the hugest online gaming markets thanks to a population of 192 million, a solid base of regular Internet users, plus a cultural history of gambling. And there is also Colombia, a country with
49 million people and 130% mobile penetration, which was the first Latin American jurisdiction to approve online gambling legislation at the end of 2016 and has issued its first online gambling license in June this year.
What are you most excited about for your own company in 2018? With regard to new products, I must say we’re working at some groundbreaking engines for metamorphic games, inspired by arcade games

and aimed to enrich the game experience and strengthen player retention, which we will be releasing in the first half of 2018. Basically, our slot machines will give
players the chance to accumulate symbols, virtual points or credits and as soon as they reach a predetermined threshold, they will gain access to new game modes, with specific features, such as free spins, special symbols, extra prizes (in addition to jackpot) and so forth. Last but not least, since the 21st FIFA
World Cup is one of the biggest event taking place in 2018, we will not miss the chance to release a brand new slot dedicated to soccer lovers.
Anything else you’d like to say about the passing of 2017 and 2018’s arrival? At WorldMatch we believe that this is a very exciting time for the online gambling industry: with operators and players always asking for new and more engaging gameplay, we’re being constantly challenged to improve product quality. With a portfolio of +200 games, we already have the numbers and in 2018 we’ll be focusing on innovation, both in terms of original engines and unique game features.
