Editor’s Letter
For sign makers, Spring/Summer is usually the busiest time of year as projects begin, festivals come around, and the weather permits more outdoor activities.
It’s not all plain sailing as we head to the warmer months, as external political and economic factors still plague the day-to-day business life of companies, from SMEs to global conglomerates.
But don’t worry, dear readers; we have more than enough content for you to sink your teeth into. Including our latest Sign Maker Profile, where acting editor Benjamin Austin travelled to Witham to speak to the ‘sticker lady’ at GKs Graphic, Clare Scammell.
Now owning her own business, she speaks about her start and the road she has been on to set up her own shop. This can be found on pages 30 to 31.
It is swiftly followed by a write-up of assistant editor Ana Lambert’s trip to Crewe, where she visited Hybrid Services to discuss the UJ330H-160 and the company’s 30th anniversary.
These are the latest reports, but we can’t forget our regular features, which have also grown.
We are still getting column contributions from Colin Sinclair McDermott, Paul Hughes and David Allen, but now the BSGA are also adding in a Knowledge Hub section as part of what we will continue to call the BSGA Corner.
Here, the organisation will ask experts within its ranks to offer advice and guidance for all aspects of sign and graphics creation.
And to top it all off, friend of the magazine and award-winning sign writer, Perry Eales, has also put his thoughts to paper to offer advice on how to use older techniques to create stunning hand-made designs, in what we have called the Touch of the Traditional.
All this as well as the usual focus features and latest headlines within the industry.
It has been a pleasure once again to pull it all together, and we do hope you enjoy reading it.
