Monobloc with low GWP rating
The new Therma V R290 Monobloc 7- and 9-kilowatt (kW) air-to-water heat pumps (AWHP) from LG feature an advanced compressor for greater efficiency and a sophisticated design. These models utilise the
R290 refrigerant, boasting a low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 3, making them more environmentally friendly than
traditional heating solutions. With an energy rating of A+++, they are claimed to reduce carbon emissions by up to 79% compared to conventional boilers. The advanced compressor
ensures stable operation and lower energy bills, even in colder climates, with a water output of up to 75°C , even when it is -15°C outside. The Therma V R290 Monobloc
models are designed for easy integration with various indoor units, offering control, hydro and combi unit options for different installation environments. They are also compatible with LG’s ThinQ for control and energy monitoring. ◼

Practical guide for solar PV systems
NAPIT has released its latest publication, ‘NAPIT practical guide: solar photovoltaic systems,’ as a digital book. The guide provides installers with a comprehensive resource on solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, covering design, selection, installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault finding. The guide also covers expected performance, PV self
consumption and grid independence, array mounting and roof interactions, and the cable type, location, connections and inspection and testing. It also includes information on health and safety, wiring regulations and industry guidance. The digital edition is available now, with printed copies available for pre- order at a discounted price of £25 until 13th September. ◼

Homeowners looking to embrace renewable energy have a new option with Daikin’s Altherma Hybrid Heat Pump, now eligible for installation under the UK government’s ECO4 scheme. When installed along with insulation and solar PV, the combination of measures with an Altherma Hybrid Heat Pump exceeds the minimum ECO4 requirements for most types of solid and cavity wall properties, achieving a high SAP band B score. This qualifies for the maximum possible ECO4 grant. As a hybrid monobloc model, it offers several advantages over standard
renewable heating systems that can reduce the installation cost. For example, a new hot water tank isn’t required, installation typically takes one to two days, it can be used with existing radiators, commissioning is straightforward and the outdoor unit is compact. To meet the requirements of the ECO4 scheme, the Hybrid
Monobloc EJHA04AV3 must be installed alongside Daikin’s gas boiler EHY2KOMB28/32A. ◼
