News Channel-led education programme kicks off for second year

A YEAR AFTER launching its new IT trade-in programme for schools, MATs and colleges in England, Scotland and Wales, HP has announced that Brighter Futures has returned, bigger and better, for a second year. Delivered in partnership with 40 of HP’s key reseller partners, the programme is again being delivered by Consenna, which has unrivalled experience of delivering successful education channel programmes for a range of vendors.

The pandemic drew attention to the importance of education-

appropriate technology like never before and it was this, coupled with the need to provide an effective and responsible means of recycling old devices, that led to the scheme being launched. With schools under increasing pressure to invest in the most educationally appropriate technology to aid learning outputs, Brighter Futures provides a means of releasing the residual value in devices that are no longer fit for purpose in the classroom. This year, in an extension to the trade-in programme, those schools can also rally their local communities to donate their old devices and further boost the potential value available to spend on new equipment. James Fitch, client director at Consenna, commented: “The success of Brighter Futures in its first year demonstrates just how needed a programme of this kind is. We helped schools replace in excess of 23,000 devices and in doing so, ploughed almost £2.5m back into their budgets for new equipment. “This year, with a wider pool of reseller partners, and with additional elements such as community involvement, we’re confident of delivering even greater impact and further changing the narrative when it comes to IT investment in education.”

Brighter Futures

provides HP’s partners with unrivalled insight and control over their customer relationships and, where necessary, access to a guided selling tool that facilitates meaningful conversations with schools that result in bespoke purchasing recommendations. It is, however, the sustainability credentials of the programme that really set it apart.

None of the devices collected as part of the

trade-in are sent to landfill and it is anticipated that over 70% will be eligible for re-use. This equates to over 7,000 tonnes of carbon emissions being avoided. Not only that, but carbon credits from Forest Carbon on all purchases provide future offsetting of the new devices for at least three years, saving an additional 9,000 tonnes of carbon.

Mr Fitch added: “The importance of driving forward sustainability in the IT sector is something that Consenna has championed for a long while and with levels of IT investment in UK education growing, it was vital for us to ensure this was the most sustainable programme of its kind that the sector had seen.”

Speaking on behalf of HP, Mike Pope, UK&I senior commercial category team lead, concluded: “Improving education outcomes is a key part of HP’s digital equity strategy. Consenna, with its deep understanding of the education marketplace, understood this and the result was Brighter Futures. “We’re proud to have helped schools replace well over 20,000 devices in the last year and look forward to working with Consenna as we enter the programme’s second year with a commitment to further build the programme to have even more impact.”
