to learn the ropes with the Home Mechanic or Technical One courses before diving into the likes of Technical Three or Technical E-Bike. “It’s still early days, but we’re seeing great progress, and we’re pleased with how things are shaping up,” adds Harrison. As expected, expansion comes with its challenges, especially when looking to enter new territories. For Harrison, it’s all about finding the right partners. “After finding the partner you then have to go down the


route of quality control,” he says. “They might be the right partner, but have they got the right space? Have they got the right equipment? Have they got the right tooling?


“The people that are going to be delivering courses need to be trained accordingly. They need to have a business plan, a marketing plan. There’s a lot of hoops we have to go through to find the right partners, which takes time. “But to maintain the high status that Cytech has as a leading global standard, we need to go through those quality control aspects to maintain it.”

Although there are commonalities, each new market will present a unique set of circumstances “We are actively seeking international partners to support the continued growth of Cytech, increasing access to training and accreditation in all these new territories,” adds Harrison. “However, a lot of countries have their own schemes set up and they’re quite traditional. For example, Germany has ‘the master craftsman’, which may sound antiquated, but it commands a great deal of respect and remains widely valued and utilised. “Our goal is to cement Cytech as the number one training accreditation scheme for bicycle mechanics internationally. “Nearly 30,000 courses have been delivered worldwide by


now. We just need to keep expanding that.” Cementing Cytech as “the number one” internationally will


always be dependent on the quality of the training provided. Those delivering the course play a significant part, but the


content itself is the foundation on which that is built. As a result, the curriculum is constantly being reviewed to ensure the contents are up-to-date. “As technology advances, our content needs to change with it,” explains Harrison.
