Karen Dear appointed Chief Executive of the CBA


The Craft Bakers Association (CBA) has announced that Karen Dear has been appointed Chief Executive, with her promotion taking effect on 3rd April 2023. Karen, who was previously Director of Operations and has worked at the CBA for nearly 23 years, will be responsible for driving further growth and expansion of the CBA and its services. Nick Harris, Chairman at Craft Bakers Association, said: “We are delighted to announce that Karen Dear has been appointed Chief Executive of the CBA in recognition of her dedicated service and leadership to the organisation. The appointment supports our ambitious future growth and development goals, whilst enabling us to build for the future.” Karen Dear, Chief Executive, said: “This is an exciting


time for the CBA and I’m looking forward to taking on this challenge. My new role will enable me to focus on growing the organisation, whilst also ensuring CBA membership continues to be valuable to all our members and industry supporters.”

Still 5th generation family owned, Jonathan Warburton will continue his role as Chairman, supported by his cousins Brett and Ross Warburton as Executive Directors. Mary-Ann has over 30 years’ experience within the food industry, most recently at Samworth Brothers where she held MD and senior commercial leadership roles at Melton Foods and Saladworks before becoming Group Executive Board Director in 2018. Through these roles she achieved transformational business performance with a strong focus on people leadership whilst building deep commercial partnerships. She brings to the business a wealth of commercial experience and operational understanding. In early 2022, Mary-Ann joined
