I’m pleased to bring you our April/May edition of Kennedy’s Bakery Production! This issue we report on CherryTree Bakery’s expansion as the company gears up to expand its tray bake offer, meet additional demand and strike deals in new markets. We also report on the latest statistics report from Bakers Basco which reveals improvements in equipment attrition rates due to equipment audits and driver briefings. All this and more in our news section on page 10.

Our Big Interview this edition is a woman who is no stranger to the industry, and has recently been named the new Chief Executive of the Craft Bakers Association, Karen Dear! Having been involved with the CBA for 23 years, Karen has spent the last two decades working with most of the bakery industry leaders and a host of experts that are employed to ensure CBA members have the best possible advice – from health and safety and legal to technical and HR. In our interview, Karen gives us more insight into her role, and shares details of their upcoming event: The Business Day. Held in London on June 14th, with the theme of ‘Future Proofing Your Business’, the day promises to be a dynamic and engaging event which will empower bakers to future proof their business. If you would like more information on The Business Day visit https://www.craftbakersassociation.co.uk/events and to hear more from Karen, take a look at the full interview on page 6.

I am also incredibly excited to bring to you our interpack event preview section, where many bakery exhibitors make it clear that the industry is set to wow attendees with all of their latest developments in the processing & packaging sector. Putting this issue together, along with our Confection interpack issue, has given me a renewed understanding and appreciation for the packaging world and the expertise that goes into the entire undertaking, whether it be from a food protection perspective with innovative seals, or from an efficiency angle with the use of robots and automation. It is an exceedingly exciting time to be involved in this industry, and the Kennedy’s team cannot wait to attend the show in Dusseldorf in May, as well as seeing and hearing all the advancements first-hand! Hear more about what companies like Bühler, Cama Group, ROTZINGER and Daxner from page 24.

I hope you enjoy this issue and we very much look forward to seeing many of you face-to-face soon!
