Turning Point Award Winner Dacombes of Wimborne

O

ver the past 12 to 18 months, Dacombes of Wimborne has made changes to almost every part of its business.

In April this year the retailer embarked on a home cinema build in some unused space in the store to offer a more bespoke and thrilling audio and visual experience, on top of its existing AV products on the shopfloor. Working closely alongside a few key manufacturers, Dacombes of Wimborne wanted to create a ‘wow’ factor for potential customers with an acoustically sealed room featuring some of its best products to create an immense movie watching and listening experience.

Its smart home apartment is another new addition to the store (more information about this on page 32), responding to the growing appetite for smart technology across the electrical retail market. Recognising key consumer trends and making the necessary changes in order to secure future business is what the Turning Point Award is all about. Dacombes of Wimborne is never standing still, doing all it can to modernise its business and cater to the ever-changing needs of consumers today.

Speaking to ERT, Matt Renaut, Managing Director of Dacombes of Wimborne, said that the company would not have got to where it is today without the hard work, talent and dedication of its staff. “On the shopfloor, they really help drive the business forward,” he said. “They are what makes Dacombes of Wimborne great!”

He added: “It was a real surprise to win the Turning Point Award! It was spectacular, and we’re all so, so pleased and it was a great day! “We knew we were doing something a little bit different but it’s great to get the recognition for this work. We’re really adding to our portfolio of what we can offer, like a one-stop-shop for all our customers; we moved into kitchens, which was a really big thing for us, and we’ve even just started doing digital signage too.

“Anybody doing anything a bit

different and excelling at what they do should be recognised for that. It’s very easy to not take part in events like this, but the spotlight should be shone on those that are standing out. And the ERT Awards is the perfect place for that!” ■
