aving recently celebrated 30 years in business, Booth
Scotland has grown a lot over the years – both in terms of company size and its product offering. Its 5,000sq ft destination retail store in Inverurie features all the leading brands in consumer electronics and home appliances, but also smart home technology and CCTV equipment. The retailer offers a full installation service with eight specialist team members complimented by its own service support department, and there are multiple product demonstration areas across the showroom, including a smart lighting and infra-red heating panel showcase and a room dedicated to bathroom TV, mood lighting and shading. Allan Will, General Manager at Booth Scotland, commented: “We have seen excellent growth in CCTV
and commercial installs over the last two years, which has been great. “As retailing continues to provide challenges we are always trying to explore new markets. In the last year we have won several contracts installing efficient lighting control systems by utilising the Scottish Government’s SME Loan Scheme, which offers unsecured interest-free loans to small- and medium-sized businesses in Scotland to reduce their energy and resource costs.” Earlier this year, the retailer also completed a project to illuminate the RSS Discovery in Dundee with a colour-change lighting system as part of the harbour redevelopment scheme.
Following receiving this award at
the ERT Awards, Mr Will commented: “The whole team at Booth Scotland was absolutely thrilled! We got
excellent press coverage in our area, which has brought a huge amount of goodwill to our business.
“It is so important for our industry to shout about the incredible lengths the modern electrical retailer
has
to go to, to still be in business, remain profitable and appeal to new generations of customers. “It can sometimes be difficult to put
your business out there to be looked at against the judges’ criteria, but be proud of what you have achieved and the work that goes in to still be in business and give it a bash!” ■
