28

Haier has been named Best Manufacturer/ Supplier Sustainability Initiative at the ERT Awards 2025, recognising the company’s innovative work in promoting energy- efficient appliances and sustainable living through its Strata Home project in Sheffield.

Steve Macdonald, Business Director – Home Energy and New Business at Haier UK, described the award as both humbling and energising. “Sustainability is at the heart of Haier’s vision, and the Strata Home has been a living example of how our innovations can transform everyday lives,” he said. The project demonstrates that eco-friendly design and technology can reduce energy use without compromising convenience, making sustainability tangible and practical for consumers. The Strata Home showcased Haier’s full suite of energy-efficient appliances, including the X Series 11 washing machine and heat pump tumble dryer, I Pro Shine Series 7 dishwasher, iD Series 6 oven, hob and hood, Gen 3 Air to Water Heat Pump, a 10kW battery and PV system, water heater, and small kitchen appliances from the I Master Series 5 range. This comprehensive approach allowed Haier to highlight how a complete home ecosystem can lower energy consumption while enhancing everyday living. Sustainability is embedded across Haier’s operations, from eco-friendly materials and modular product design to renewable energy investment and reduced packaging. Projects like the Strata Home serve as real- world proof of concept, demonstrating how smart, connected appliances can help households monitor and manage energy use effectively. Recognition from the ERT Awards, alongside Haier’s earlier Terra Carta Seal achievement, reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainable innovation. Mr Macdonald said the accolade inspires Haier to continue pushing boundaries, creating appliances and systems that reduce environmental impact while empowering families to live more sustainably, setting new benchmarks for the industry.
