SHOW PREVIEW CASE STUDIES

FOLLOW IN THE FOOT STEPS OF MANY SUCCESSFUL FRANCHI SEES WHO HAVE S TARTED THEIR JOURNEY AT THE NORTHERN FRANCHI S E EXHIBITION.

D DAVID RAMM

avid explains: “I’d always wanted to be my own boss but I’m not someone who

could set up a business from scratch, so a franchise suited me down to the ground.”

David Ramm had enjoyed a successful career in retail, but he’d always harboured a dream to become his own boss.

In June 2015, David attended The Northern Franchise Exhibition where he met Expense Reduction Analysts (ERA). Having spent time talking to the ERA team, David knew that with the training, the support and the network, he could make a success of a franchise with them. His dedication to a project with his long-time employer meant the timing wasn’t right to pursue the opportunity, but David kept in touch with the ERA team over the next few years.

By the summer of 2018, David’s

lack of work-life balance became increasingly diffi cult to bear. “The long hours, lack of fl exibility and the stress of my role left me constantly questioning my future. I reached a

point where I needed to make a change.” David decided to make the leap

and, after signing his all-important franchise agreement, he embarked on ERA’s foundational training and start-up programme, designed to provide franchise partners with the information and skills necessary to make a success of their new business. By November, David was

operational and running his new business from home. “Not needing premises was another thing that attracted me to ERA; it minimises your overheads and there’s no commute! I also like that I don’t have to take on staff or be responsible for anyone other than myself. “You get out what you put in, so

a better work-life balance, Mike attended The Northern Franchise Exhibition in June 2016. He recalls: “I was open to any kind of franchise business, but it had to earn me good money and allow for quality time with my family.” Mike met the dry carpet and upholstery-cleaning brand Zerodrytime at the event, where he had in-depth conversations with their managing director, David Muirhead. After crunching the numbers with his wife, Mike attended a discovery day with Zerodrytime and by October that year owned the franchise for Worsley & Warrington. “I’ve had so much training and support from Zerodrytime to make a success of this, from getting set

up with the van, tools and products, to fi nding customers and getting trained on specifi c aspects of the business. Head offi ce are constantly innovating, fi nding new products and services to add income streams for the franchisees. “Being part of a friendly network

of other franchisees also provides support – we share advice and refer work to each other. All of this has helped me generate a fantastic income from the off. “My friends and family can see the

fewer hours I need to work to earn what I do, plus the fl exibility I have as my own boss, and they can hardly believe it. With the success I’ve had, I plan to get more vans on the road in the very near future.”
