FRANCHISEFOCUS INVESTMENT: FROM £100,000 A lifetime of care compassionate business opportunity he was looking for C

alum Gray launched Caremark Winchester and Eastleigh in 2008 following a 30-year military career.

Motivated to care for others, Calum briefl y worked with the Samaritans, then following in the footsteps of his parents – who were volunteers for various humanitarian organisations – Calum started a franchise in the care industry as he’d always wanted to see change in communities where it is most needed. Now, more than 10 years in, Calum has built a profi table and – perhaps most importantly to the compassionate franchisee – benevolent business. He says: “I fi nd so much personal satisfaction in supporting others in their time of need – whether that is providing great-quality care to clients, offering employment opportunities or contributing to local and national charities. “Above all else, I’m a true believer in the

power of a professional and personable working environment – I like to think I do a great job of looking out for my team of careworkers. The care they administer is nothing short of incredible. In fact, our reputation as one of the best in-home care providers in the area is maintained through the dedication and professionalism of my team, so I invest a lot into maintaining their feeling of belonging.” As well as communicating career opportunities to his care team, Calum regularly plans events and initiatives to sustain high morale within his business. “Recently, I funded two pamper days for

careworkers. Care manager Alina tells me a great time was had by all. This endeavour, alongside fundraising events and community outreach, reinforces our open- door policy. My team feel they’re working for an honest and considerate employer.” If caring for others is your motivation,
