ittle Kickers’ focus has always been on quality and ensuring that the children who attend the classes have the best


possible experience. The business decided at a very early stage of


its development that the best way to maintain the quality of what it does, while growing the business, was to expand through franchising. Franchising has enabled the business to provide local people, who are integrated in their own communities, with the opportunity to access the tools and equipment they require to set up and run their own successful Little Kickers businesses and to be their own boss. The franchise currently operates through a network of over 180 franchisees across six continents and over 34,000 children attend the classes each week around the world. Little Kickers feels very strongly that input from all


of the franchisees is instrumental to the development of the business, providing many opportunities for two-way communications (annual conferences, franchisee forums, focus groups, etc). Many of the innovations that have been introduced have arisen as a result of ideas that the franchisees came up with


and have then been rolled out across the network. In line with this, it encourages its franchisees to work together as a team and to help each other, rather than creating a competitive environment. To date, franchisees in the UK, Australia, Canada,


New Zealand, Ireland, Cyprus, South Africa, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Peru, China, Portugal and Malaysia have all benefited from being able to bring the excellent programme and solid operational infrastructure that Little Kickers has developed to local communities. As the franchise network develops and becomes larger, the benefits for the franchisees continue to grow. Little Kickers is able to invest more heavily in ensuring that its programme and infrastructure remains at the forefront of the industry, and also benefit from the economies of scale and sponsorship opportunities that are afforded by the size of its network. Little Kickers’ mission statement is: “To provide all preschool children with a positive introduction to sport, and become the market leader in the preschool football sector worldwide. To operate the business ethically and to treat our customers and employees as we would like to be treated ourselves (and to have fun!).” n
