Let’s start from the beginning. Can you give me a brief background on Anytime Fitness? Anytime Fitness was founded in 2002 in Minneapolis, US, and is now the world’s-largest health club network with over 3,300 clubs open across 26 countries and still growing. The brand offers a business model for franchise investors that allows for a great work-life balance while providing their members with a convenient, affordable, 24- hour community health club. This is just a few of the many features that allow the business to thrive. Anytime Fitness has been voted the number-one global franchise opportunity by Entrepreneur magazine in both 2015 and 2016. Since first opening in the UK in October 2010,


Anytime Fitness has seen its club network steadily increase, and it now has over 100 clubs open across the UK and Ireland. In the past year the company has


opened 50 new clubs alone and is looking at a very busy and productive 12 months ahead.


Has Anytime Fitness overcome many challenges? The franchise model is a proven one with over 96 per cent global success rate, but that doesn’t come easy. From the early days when the first clubs opened to where we are now, the challenge remains to evolve as the environment changes. Challenges include ongoing technology and system development, which is key to our success, along with ensuring the infrastructure, training and support we give franchisees is the best it can be. Rapid growth and keeping up with an ever-changing industry is by far the biggest challenge we have; however, the Anytime Fitness team remain focused on the task in hand and future vision of the company. How do we keep our culture, which is so important


though? How do franchisees remain motivated and club staff committed to helping members get to a healthy place and improving the health of their community? Chuck and Dave, the US founders, are masters at this, with constant support, access to them and inspirational leadership that everyone buys into. They truly believe in the brand and the mission and are the leaders everyone wants to follow.


What is Anytime Fitness’ biggest achievement? The global growth of the brand has to be one of the biggest achievements from a commercial perspective; we have outpaced well-known franchises by getting to over 3,000 open clubs in less than 15 years.
